Product description
A white glass roll-on bottle with a volume of 15 ml, supplied as a ready-made set with a steel roller ball in a plastic collar and a black screw cap. White glass shields the contents from light, so it suits perfume oils, diluted essential oil blends and other oil-based preparations that should be protected from light. The ball applies the contents directly to the skin in a thin layer, without a dropper and without the preparation touching your fingers. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
How the roll-on set works
The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. After filling, the collar with the ball is pressed onto the neck to seal the contents, and the cap is screwed onto the thread. As the ball passes over the skin, it rotates and carries a thin film of liquid with it. The amount the ball applies depends on the viscosity of the contents. Light oils, alcohol-based solutions and liquid serums are dispensed evenly. Thick balms or gels are difficult to push past the ball, or are not applied at all.
The black PP cap covers the ball, so it touches nothing when carried in a bag and the contents on its surface do not dry out.
What it is suitable for
- Roll-on perfumes – fragrance compositions diluted in a carrier oil or in alcohol. White glass protects the fragrance from light, and the small volume is easy to carry with you.
- Aromatherapy blends – essential oils diluted in a carrier oil for application to the wrists, temples or neck. The ball applies a small, repeatable amount, which makes it easier to stick to the right amount.
- Nail and cuticle oils – the oil is applied precisely, without running.
- Spot treatment products for the skin – light liquid serums and tinctures intended to treat only a small area.
- Cooling roll-ons – liquid preparations with menthol or hydrosol blends, where the coolness of the steel ball adds to the effect.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling, and for this bottle it is 15 ml. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the collar with the ball, which displaces part of the contents once it is inserted. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Fill the bottle to the shoulders, not up to the neck, and press the collar with the ball in evenly until it seats on the neck. If the contents overflow during insertion, wipe the neck before screwing on the cap, otherwise the thread becomes sticky and the cap is harder to open.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the glass bottle, the cap and the collar with the ball, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water would show up as cloudiness in an oil-based preparation.
The collar with the ball can be pulled off the neck and the set can be used again. After repeated insertion, however, the collar may fit more loosely, so after each new filling we recommend checking the tightness: leave the bottle lying on its side on a paper towel for several hours.
Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature well. Let a hot mixture cool before filling and do not place the bottle on heated surfaces. The ball collar and the cap are made of PP plastic. With concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions with a high proportion of essential oils, or other solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic parts beforehand with your specific formulation, ideally with a short test on a single piece.
Thick creams, ointments and gels with high viscosity do not belong in a roll-on bottle. The ball does not let them through.
You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
At the end of its life, the glass bottle is sorted as glass, and the cap and the collar with the ball as plastic.
