Product description

The airless serum bottle with a volume of 10 ml seals the contents off from air and dispenses them by pressing the pump, without a dip tube. It is particularly suitable for serums, eye creams, light emulsions and gels with sensitive active ingredients or oils prone to oxidation, and for samples or travel packs where a small volume and clean dispensing matter. The set includes a white bottle, a top part with a pump and a middle spring insert, so it is supplied as complete, ready-to-use packaging.

The body of the bottle is made of PP and PETG, the pump of PP, and the spring insert combines PP with a steel spring. The plastic is lightweight and does not break when dropped. All three parts are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for food, so it is not suitable for homemade oils or syrups.

What it is suitable for

  • Serums with active ingredients – vitamin C, retinoids, peptides and plant extracts lose their effectiveness with repeated contact with air, and the airless system limits this contact.
  • Eye creams and light emulsions – a small dose and a clean outflow without reaching into the container with your fingers suit products for sensitive areas.
  • Oil serums – oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids are less prone to yellowing and keep their scent when they are not exposed to air each time the bottle is opened.
  • Samples and test batches – a volume of 10 ml is enough to try out a formulation with a customer or as a travel pack.

How an airless bottle works

A movable piston sits at the bottom of the container. With each press, the pump creates a vacuum, the piston moves a little higher and pushes a dose of product upwards. Air is not drawn into the container, as it is with conventional pumps with a dip tube. The contents therefore do not dry out, oxidise less and can be dispensed practically to the last drop. The bottle works in any position, even upside down.

After filling and first assembly, you need to prime the pump by pressing it several times until the mechanism fills and starts dispensing evenly. This is how every airless system behaves.

Filling and handling the packaging

The container is filled from the top after the top part is removed. The product is poured or applied directly onto the piston, not up to the rim of the neck. The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for with normal filling. The total volume up to the rim is larger, and the difference forms a reserve for the pump mechanism and for the movement of the contents after assembly. If overfilled, part of the product is pushed out when the top part is fitted or the pump does not seat properly.

With thicker emulsions, apply the contents into the container with a spatula or from a bag with a corner cut off, and tap it against a surface to push out air bubbles. Air trapped between the piston and the product causes uneven dispensing.

Before the first filling, we recommend washing all parts, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Residual water inside the pump would mix with the product and endanger its microbiological stability.

The airless system does not replace a preservative. It limits air access and contact with the contents, but water-based and emulsion formulations still need a preservative in this packaging.

Good to know

Dispensing depends on the viscosity of the contents. The pump handles serums, gels and light to medium-thick creams well. Very firm ointments and balms can overload the mechanism, while very runny water-based solutions flow out faster than can be controlled. With every new formulation, it is worth filling one piece and observing for several days how it dispenses and whether the pump seals.

For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking how the material behaves in the finished product, especially with longer contact.

Reuse is possible when all parts can be thoroughly cleaned and dried. If residues of the previous formulation that cannot be rinsed out remain in the pump mechanism, it is better to use a new piece. The bottle is made of PP and PETG, the pump of PP and the spring insert contains a steel spring, so it is advisable to separate the parts before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the airless serum bottle suitable for?
It is suitable for serums, eye creams, light emulsions, gels and oil serums with air-sensitive ingredients. The piston at the bottom of the container pushes the product upwards without drawing in air, so the contents oxidise less and do not dry out. The volume of 10 ml is also suitable for samples, test batches and travel packs of cosmetics.
How do you fill an airless bottle?
From the top, after removing the top part with the pump, directly onto the piston and only up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim. It is a good idea to apply thicker products with a spatula or from a bag and tap to remove bubbles. Before the first filling, wash all parts, disinfect them and let them dry completely so that residual water does not endanger the microbiological stability of the product.
Why does the airless pump not dispense at the start?
After filling, the mechanism is empty and needs to be primed with several presses until it fills with the product. If the pump does not dispense even then, the cause is usually an air bubble between the piston and the contents, an overfilled container or a formulation that is too thick for the pump to draw in.
Can the airless bottle be used for water-based and oil-based products?
Yes, the packaging is declared for contact with cosmetic products, including serums, emulsions and oil-based products. However, very runny water-based solutions may flow out uncontrollably, because the pump is designed for serums and creams with a certain viscosity. With a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, it is recommended to check how the plastic behaves in the finished product.
Does a serum in an airless bottle need a preservative?
Yes, with water-based and emulsion formulations a preservative remains necessary. The airless system limits air access and finger contact with the contents, which reduces the risk of oxidation and contamination, but it does not ensure microbiological stability. Anhydrous oil serums generally do not need a preservative, and in their case the airless system mainly slows yellowing and changes in scent.
Is the 10 ml airless bottle suitable for food?
No, the set is declared only for contact with cosmetic products. The container, pump and spring insert do not have approval for contact with food, so they are not suitable for homemade oils, syrups or infusions. For cosmetic serums, creams and gels, all three parts are declared suitable and can also be used for products intended for sale.
