The set is not approved for contact with food, so it is not used for household oils, syrups or herbal extracts.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for during normal filling and the figure stated on the label. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always larger. The difference provides a reserve for the closure, for movement of the contents during dispensing and for expansion of the product with temperature change. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will enter the cap during closing and squeezing.

What is worth knowing

Before the first filling, the bottle and cap are washed and optionally disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then left to dry completely. This applies in particular to cosmetic preparations, where residual moisture unnecessarily burdens the preservation system.

HDPE tolerates common cleaning ingredients. However, with concentrated acids, oxidising agents or a higher proportion of essential or fragrance oils, it is advisable to verify the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation – monitoring the bottle shape, cap seal integrity and any changes in the appearance of the plastic after several weeks of storage.
