However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test (tightness, dosing and behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation), so that you can be sure that the packaging fully meets the requirements of the specific type of filled product.

FAQ – Most frequently asked questions
The packaging can be reused with a suitable type of filled product, always under strict adherence to hygiene rules. Before each new filling, the container and the closure must be mechanically cleaned and subsequently disinfected with a suitable preparation, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. For this purpose, you can use the products IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or Ethanol 96 % denatured vegetable. Only after thorough drying is the jerrycan ready for reuse.
When filling, we recommend using a suitable funnel or filling system to minimise spillage and contamination of the neck. Do not overfill the contents above the recommended level so that there is space left for safe closing and possible thermal expansion of the liquid. Store the jerrycan in a dry, clean and shaded place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. When working with concentrated or technical solutions, also follow the internal safety instructions for the specific substance.
It is advisable to first rinse the container with clean water or a suitable solvent that is compatible with the previous filling and the packaging material. We then recommend washing the packaging with a mild cleaning agent, rinsing thoroughly and allowing it to dry. Before new filling, the inner surface and the closure must be disinfected, for example using isopropyl alcohol or ethanol of a quality intended for technical or cosmetic use. After disinfection, let the jerrycan dry completely at room temperature.
If you decide not to use the jerrycan further, we recommend as a first step to empty it completely and, where possible, rinse it so that no residues of the original contents remain. Then follow the recommendation stated in the parameter table at the product on the Handymade website, where you will find information on the material composition and the corresponding type of sorted waste. A clean plastic pack can be handed over to the appropriate container for sorted waste or to a collection yard, always in accordance with local rules for recycling.
