Product description
This square amber glass medicine bottle, with a nominal volume of 30 ml and an 18 mm neck thread, is designed for filling small volumes of cosmetics that need protection from light. The dark glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so the bottle is used mainly for facial serums, oil blends with essential oils, tinctures and concentrated active ingredients. The square shape allows the bottles to be stored tightly side by side in a box or drawer.
The pack contains 99 pcs and is intended for filling whole batches.
What it is used for
- Facial serums and concentrates – with a dropper, the contents are dispensed precisely drop by drop, which saves product when working with concentrated active ingredients.
- Oil blends – facial and massage oils with essential oils are protected from light in dark glass.
- Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – glass does not react with alcohol and does not absorb the scent of the contents, so it is preferred to plastic for alcohol-based preparations.
- Essential oil blends – concentrated essential oils can be stored in glass without the packaging absorbing their scent, and after washing the bottle can be used for a different blend.
- Samples and travel sizes – the smaller volume is suitable for trial versions of formulations or for gift sets.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. Total volume to the brim, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the closure, dropper or pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. With a dropper this margin is essential, otherwise the contents are pushed out through the neck when the glass tube is inserted.
Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. For contents with a higher alcohol content, leave a slightly larger margin.
Closure
Closures with the same neck type, that is with an 18 mm thread, as well as ready-made combinations of the bottle with a closure, are available in the Handymade range. If you choose your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. This applies especially to oils containing essential oil components, which can affect the seal of the closure.
Good to know
- Preparation before filling – before first use, wash the bottles, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual moisture can cause cloudiness in an anhydrous product, for example an oil.
- Reuse – glass can be washed and used again. When switching from an oil to a water-based product, first rinse the bottle with alcohol to remove the oil film.
- Glass and temperature – pour in contents that have already cooled. A sudden temperature change, for example a hot emulsion into a cold bottle or a full bottle taken from the fridge into the sun, can crack the glass.
- Suitability for cosmetics – the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements. You can find the declaration of conformity on the product page.
- Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling; remove any closure made of a different material before disposal.
Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, but it does not replace an antioxidant or preservation. We recommend verifying the stability of your formulation in this packaging as well.
