Product description

The plastic tablet jar with a black lid is a complete packaging and closure set for solid and powdered contents: tablets, capsules, powders, salts or dried herbs. The brown colour of the jar limits light exposure to the contents, which is appreciated with light-sensitive ingredients, and the wide neck makes filling and dispensing individual units easy. The set is approved for direct food contact and for use with cosmetic products, making it equally suitable for home cosmetic production and for packaging dietary supplements or kitchen blends.

What the set is suitable for

  • Tablets and capsules – hand-pressed fizzing bath tablets, solid facial cleansing tablets, capsules with herbal powders or standard dietary supplements.
  • Powdered cosmetic ingredients – clay and powder masks, enzyme powders, dry shampoos, bath salts or sugar and salt scrubs in dry form, including powdered herbal extracts that change colour in light.
  • Food use – herbal and tea blends, spices, dried fruit, homemade sweets or lozenges. Thanks to the food-contact certificate, there is no need to find a separate container for the kitchen.
  • Samples and travel packaging – the 100 ml volume is suitable for smaller portions that will be used up within a few weeks, or as sample packaging for customers.

How the jar and lid work together

The jar is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that handles regular use well. The lid is made of polypropylene and has a foam polyethylene insert on the inner side that presses against the neck when tightened and improves the seal against moisture and spillage. The closure screws onto the neck thread, making opening and closing quick and the jar suitable for repeated use. The lid is not designed as a child-resistant closure or a hermetic seal for sensitive substances. For moisture-sensitive contents we therefore recommend adding a desiccant sachet or testing how the contents behave over several weeks.

Both components of the set, the jar and the lid, have their own declaration of conformity available with the product. The set as a whole is declared for direct contact with food and cosmetics.

Nominal volume and filling

For packaging, a distinction is made between the nominal volume, i.e. the volume for which the packaging is designed under normal filling conditions, and the total volume to the brim, which is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is typically a reserve for the closure and for content expansion. For a tablet jar, this reserve is not as important as for bottles with droppers or pumps, because the lid does not extend into the interior. Even so, it is worth leaving a small free space below the neck so that tablets are not crushed when closing and powder does not remain on the thread, where it would interfere with the seal. Both volume values can be found in the product parameters.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash and sanitise both the jar and the lid with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture is the main cause of caking with powdered contents. The jar is intended primarily for dry contents. It can physically hold liquid and oil-based preparations, but the wide neck and flat lid are not designed for repeated pouring. With pure essential oils or solvents, the plastic may soften or become cloudy over time.

PET does not tolerate higher temperatures. Fill the contents when cooled to room temperature; hot blends or freshly melted solid products will deform the jar and may loosen the thread.

The brown colour reduces the amount of light that reaches the contents, but it is not complete protection. Do not store the jar in direct sunlight. Labels adhere well to the cylindrical surface. Once emptied, both the jar and lid can be rinsed and reused. For recycling, the PET jar and PP lid both belong with plastics; however, it is advisable to separate them.

For powder masks or scrubs, add a small scoop to the jar. The customer will then take only the amount needed and the remainder will not come into contact with wet hands.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml plastic tablet jar suitable for food?
Yes, the jar and black lid set is approved for direct food contact under normal conditions of use. Both components, the jar and the lid, have their own declaration of conformity. It is therefore suitable for herbal blends, spices, lozenges or dietary supplements as well as cosmetic ingredients. Do not fill it with hot food, however, as PET deforms at higher temperatures.
Does the brown plastic jar protect the contents from light?
Partially yes – the brown colouring of the PET limits the amount of light that passes through the jar wall. For herbal powders, enzymes or coloured tablets this is an advantage over clear plastic. It is not a complete barrier, however, so do not store the packaging in direct sunlight, and for very light-sensitive ingredients consider an additional outer box.
Can the tablet jar also be used for liquids or oils?
The jar is intended primarily for solid and powdered contents. It will hold liquid, but the wide neck makes pouring difficult and the flat lid with foam insert is not designed for long-term sealing of liquids when inverted. Pure essential oils and solvents may damage PET over time. For oils and liquid serums we recommend bottles with a dropper or pump.
How does the black lid seal on the plastic tablet jar?
The lid screws onto a GL44 thread and the inner foam polyethylene insert presses against the neck when tightened. The seal is sufficient against spillage and normal air humidity, but is not hermetic. For powders that attract moisture or for fizzing tablets, a desiccant sachet and a clean thread free of powder residue that could prevent the insert from seating properly will help.
How to prepare the jar before first filling, and can it be reused?
Before first use, wash and sanitise both the jar and the lid with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture remaining in the packaging is the main cause of caking with powdered contents. The set is designed for repeated use. Once emptied, simply rinse the packaging, dry it and check that the insert in the lid is holding and the thread is not damaged.
Are other closures compatible with the tablet jar?
Yes, the jar has a GL44 thread listed in the parameters and closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range will fit it, where you will also find ready-made combinations. With your own combination we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific contents, as lids without a sealing insert may allow moisture to pass through with powdered blends.
