Product description
250 ml glass bottle with black pump is a complete packaging and closure set for liquid cosmetic products intended to be dispensed by pressing, without unscrewing and without finger contact with the contents. Suitable for liquid soaps, shower gels, body lotions, facial and body oils, massage oils, light to medium-viscosity emulsions or make-up removers.
The bottle is made of amber glass, which reduces light transmission and protects vegetable oils, essential oils and sensitive active ingredients from accelerated oxidation. The black pump with a ribbed collar fits the bottle neck directly. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Key benefits
- Light protection – amber glass absorbs a substantial portion of visible and ultraviolet light that passes through clear glass unimpeded. The scent, colour and active ingredients of the contents last longer as a result. It reduces the effects of light but does not eliminate them entirely, so store the contents away from direct sunlight regardless.
- Hygienic dispensing – the pump delivers approximately 1.8 ml with each press, the contents do not spill and fingers or shower water do not enter the bottle.
- Chemically stable glass – does not react with oils, essential oils, alcohol or surfactants. It is therefore also suitable for contents that would soften or cloud a plastic container over time.
- Firm grip – the ribbed collar of the pump holds well even with wet hands and makes it easier to tighten securely onto the neck.
- Reusable – the glass can be washed, disinfected and refilled; the pump is rinsed and continues to work.
What works with this set and what does not
The pump is designed for liquid and mildly viscous contents. It handles oils, oil serums, liquid soaps, shampoos, body lotions and medium-density gels without difficulty. Thick creams, butters or products that solidify in the cold are drawn up with difficulty and the pump delivers irregular doses with them. A jar or pot is better suited to such contents. Products with solid particles (scrubs with sugar, salt or crushed seeds) can clog the pump valve and therefore do not belong in this set.
Water-based and alcohol-based contents are fine in glass. Glass tolerates alcohol without restriction; for highly alcoholic preparations we recommend checking in advance whether alcohol will affect the plastic parts of the pump over time.
The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the bottle height. Before first use, cut it at an angle so that it reaches the bottom but does not bend. A straight end resting against the bottom would block the suction.
Nominal volume and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount of contents the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and pump body, which displace the level upwards when screwed in, and also space for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the pump is tightened. The exact values of both volumes are listed in the specifications.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water and press it several times empty to flush any remaining water from the tube.
- Glass and temperature – a sudden change in temperature can crack the glass. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle or vice versa; let emulsions and soaps cool to at least lukewarm temperature before filling.
- Pump and heat – the plastic parts are not designed for hot filling. Attach the pump only after the contents have cooled down.
- Tightening – tighten the collar firmly by hand but without force. Excessive force will not improve the seal and may damage the plastic ring.
- First presses – after filling, the pump must be pressed several times until the tube fills and starts dispensing contents.
- Labelling – the flat cylindrical surface of the bottle labels well.
- Food contact – the food-contact certification applies to the glass bottle on its own. The pump does not have such an assessment, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
- Recycling – at end of life the bottle is sorted as glass and the pump as plastic; separate them before disposal.
The set is closed with the pump, not a cap. Transport full bottles in an upright position and secure the pump head against accidental pressing.
Closure selection
The bottle has a 28 mm (PP28S) neck. Further closures with the same neck type and ready-made packaging and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you are assembling your own combination, check the seal, the pump performance with your specific formulation and the dose output in advance, as it decreases with more viscous contents.
