The black dropper with tamper-evident ring is a dropper closure for bottles with an 18/415 neck. It solves two things at once: precise dispensing of small amounts of liquid content and visible tamper evidence, which is appreciated by anyone who sells or gives away their products. It is particularly suited to serums, facial and hair oils, tinctures, alcohol extracts, and concentrates of active ingredients, where the customer doses by drops and the packaging should look like a finished, sealed product.

It consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb, and a plastic cap with a tamper-evident ring. Glass does not absorb the scent or colour of the contents and is compatible with oil-based and alcohol-based preparations. The tube length is the only dimension that truly matters when choosing, which is why it is stated directly in the product name.

How the dropper works

The cap screws onto the bottle neck and the tamper-evident ring separates from the cap when first unscrewed. It is immediately apparent whether the packaging has already been opened. The protection is single-use: after the first opening, the dropper continues to function as a standard closure, simply without the intact ring.

To dispense, squeeze the bulb, submerge the tube in the contents, and release. The amount of liquid drawn up depends on viscosity: light oils and aqueous serums draw up easily and drip evenly, thicker preparations draw up more slowly and the drop is larger. The dropper is not suitable for gels and creams — the content stays in the tube and dosing is imprecise.

Which bottles and contents it suits

The dropper fits bottles with an 18/415 thread, the standard neck size for glass serum and oil bottles. The key factor is that the tube length matches the bottle height: the tube should reach almost to the bottom so the last of the contents can be dispensed, but must not rest against or press on the bottom. The glass tube is suitable for oil-based, aqueous, and alcohol-based contents. The silicone bulb tolerates standard cosmetic oils and serums; however, with undiluted essential oils and preparations with a higher solvent content, we recommend checking whether it changes over time. What to know when filling and using

Before first use, it is advisable to wash and disinfect the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely. Dry the tube and bulb separately — water lingers longest in the bulb. Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume, not to the brim: when the dropper is inserted, the tube displaces some of the contents, and an overfilled bottle will overflow through the thread.

The dropper seals reliably when the bottle is upright. When transporting on its side or in luggage, we recommend tightening the cap and carrying the bottle upright or in a resealable bag. Dropper closures generally do not seal as reliably as a solid cap with a sealing insert. The glass tube is fragile and may break if the bottle falls onto a hard surface.

The dropper can be reused after washing; however, the silicone bulb may absorb the scent or colour of the previous contents. When switching to a product with a different scent, we recommend a new dropper. When recycling, the glass tube, plastic cap, and silicone bulb should be sorted separately by material.
