Product description
Black glossy dropper, 103 mm is a closure that seals the bottle tightly while allowing the contents to be dispensed drop by drop. Suitable for products used in small amounts: facial serums, oil blends, tonics or concentrated active ingredients.
The dropper is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is included in the product parameters.
What the dropper is suitable for
- Thin to medium-viscosity liquids – water-based and oil serums, vegetable oils, tonics, hydrolats and alcoholic extracts draw up through the tube easily and evenly.
- Economical dispensing – the contents are dispensed drop by drop, which is practical for concentrated products where only a few drops are needed per application.
- Hygienic dispensing – the product is not scooped out with fingers and the bottle is closed between uses, so the contents are less exposed to air and contaminants.
Thick gels, creams and emulsions with higher viscosity are difficult to draw up through the tube and tend to stick to its walls. For such products, a pump or jar is more suitable.
Choosing by bottle neck type and height
Two things determine the choice: the thread type and the tube length. The dropper thread must match the bottle neck; both measurements are listed in the parameters. The tube length determines how tall a bottle the dropper fits: the tube should reach just above the bottom so that almost all of the contents can be dispensed.
Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend testing the seal, dispensing and dropper behaviour with the specific formulation.
A bottle with a dropper should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for in normal filling; the total volume extends up to the neck. The difference between them provides a margin for the tube, which displaces some contents when inserted, and for the expansion of the liquid with temperature changes.
What to know before filling
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a plastic (PP) cap with an aluminium shell. The part that primarily comes into contact with the contents is glass.
Before first use, it is recommended to wash, disinfect and allow the dropper to dry thoroughly. Any moisture left in the bulb could get into the contents when used with anhydrous products.
A filled bottle should be stored upright. In a bottle stored on its side, the contents reach the bulb and remain in prolonged contact with the silicone.
The silicone bulb may swell and lose elasticity with prolonged exposure to undiluted essential oils or solvents. For such contents, we recommend testing with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch.
The glass tube is fragile; when inserting it into the bottle, guide it straight and do not lever it against the neck. The glossy surface of the cap only needs a wipe with a damp cloth; abrasive cleaners may scratch it. Since the dropper consists of several materials, it is advisable to separate the glass tube from the cap and bulb before sorting for recycling.
