Product description

Disc top cap with 24/410 thread dispenses the contents directly from the bottle into the palm without unscrewing. Opens with a single press of the rocking disc and closes with the same motion. Suitable for shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, liquid soaps, facial oils and micellar waters. A gold aluminium shell with a black centre gives the bottle a unified look that pairs well with both black and gold labels.

How a disc top works

At the top of the cap there is a rocking disc. Pressing one side tilts the disc and exposes the dispensing opening on the opposite side. The contents flow out when the bottle is tilted or gently squeezed. Pressing the other side returns the disc to a flat position and closes the opening. The whole operation can be managed with one hand, which you will appreciate especially in the shower or at the sink.

The functional part of the cap is made from polypropylene (PP), which resists common cosmetic raw materials and is unaffected by water or surfactants. The outer shell of aluminium does not come into contact with the contents. It gives the cap weight and a solid feel in the hand.

What products it is suitable for

  • Liquid and gel rinse-off products – shower gels, shampoos, liquid soaps and conditioners with low to medium viscosity flow through the opening smoothly and the disc can be operated with wet hands.
  • Body and facial lotions – lighter O/W emulsions that can be squeezed out when the bottle is tilted. Thick creams and butters will not pass through the cap.
  • Oils and oil serums – liquid oils pass through the opening without difficulty; with very thin oils, expect faster flow and dispense carefully.
  • Micellar waters and tonics – dispense thin watery products onto a cotton pad held against the opening to avoid releasing a larger amount at once.

A disc top is not a dispenser for thick products. If a cream or mask does not flow when the bottle is turned upside down, the opening will clog and the contents will only come out with strong squeezing of the bottle. For such textures, choose a pump or a jar instead.

Good to know

The cap is designed for bottles with a 24/410 neck. Bottles with this neck and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation, because even with the same thread size the neck height may vary, affecting how the cap seats.

Before first filling, wash the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. After the contents are used up, it can be reused.

The disc top holds the contents during normal standing and brief carrying, but it is not fully leak-proof like a screw cap with a sealing insert. When transporting, do not fill the bottle to the brim and place it in a resealable bag.

For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend a test filling for several weeks. Polypropylene generally withstands them, but the behaviour of the disc and any surface changes can only be reliably assessed with your specific formulation.

The cap is suitable for use with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity and material documentation are included with the product. Suitability for food contact has not been established, so we do not recommend it for food-related purposes.

The cap is a combination of plastic and aluminium. When it has served its purpose, place it in sorted waste according to the material designation stated in the parameters.

Frequently asked questions

What bottles does the disc top cap 24/410 fit?
The disc top cap 24/410 fits any bottle with a 24/410 neck, meaning with an outer thread diameter of 24 mm. Bottles with this neck are available in the Handymade range in both plastic and glass versions. If the bottle comes from another source, verify the neck type in its specifications, because the 24/410 cap does not fit a 24/415 or 28/410 neck.
Is the disc top cap leak-proof for travel?
The disc top cap holds the contents during normal use and brief carrying, but it is not hermetically sealed like a screw cap with an insert. When transporting in a suitcase or a parcel, secure the disc in the closed position, do not fill the bottle to the brim and place it in a resealable bag. With thin contents the risk of leakage is higher than with gels.
Can the disc top cap be used for oil?
Yes, the disc top cap is suitable for liquid vegetable oils and oil serums. The opening is larger than that of a dropper, so thin oils are dispensed by gently tilting the bottle rather than squeezing it. Polypropylene is resistant to oils, but with a high proportion of essential oils we recommend a test filling before committing to a larger batch.
Does the aluminium on the cap come into contact with the contents?
No, the aluminium forms the outer shell of the cap and does not come into contact with the bottle's contents. The contents pass only through the inner part and the dispensing opening made of polypropylene. The aluminium shell serves a decorative function and gives the cap solidity and weight in the hand.
How is the disc top cap cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, the disc top cap can be reused. After the contents are used up, rinse it with warm water – with a drop of washing-up liquid for oily products – flush the channel beneath the disc several times and allow the cap to dry completely with the disc open. Before refilling, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol to avoid introducing residues from the previous product into a fresh one.
What products is the disc top cap not suitable for?
Thick creams, butters, scrubs with coarse particles and thick masks will not pass through the disc top cap. The contents must be able to flow when the bottle is turned upside down or with gentle squeezing of the bottle walls. If the formulation only drips slowly, the opening will clog and dispensing will be inconvenient. For such textures, a pump, a jar or a pot is more suitable.
