Product description

The plastic tablet jar with a black lid is an opaque plastic container with a wide neck, designed for storing and selling solid and powder products. The black PET body blocks light and protects the contents from its effects, the wide neck makes the container easy to fill and empty, and the screw-on lid seals it securely. It comes as a complete set of container and closure with the same neck type, so there is no need to look for a suitable lid separately.

Suitable for bath and effervescent tablets, capsules, bath salts, loose powders, dry shampoos, toothpaste tablets, herbal blends or powder masks. The set is approved for direct food contact, so it can also be used for dietary supplements, spices, tea, dried fruit or homemade loose mixtures. It is also declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available with the product.

Why choose this set

  • Light protection – the opaque black wall blocks light, which accelerates colour fading and loss of fragrance. You will appreciate this with coloured tablets, tablets with essential oils or with dried herbs.
  • Wide neck – the contents can be poured in with a spoon or directly from a bag, and individual pieces can be easily removed by hand even with larger tablets.
  • Lightweight and unbreakable – PET will not shatter on impact and at the same volume weighs a fraction of glass, reducing shipping costs and the risk of damage in transit.
  • Ready-matched pair – the lid fits the jar neck without any trial and error. The foam sealing insert, when tightened, presses against the neck rim and limits moisture ingress from outside.
  • Uniform black appearance – both the jar and the lid share the same colour, giving the packaging a cohesive look.

How to work with the set

The jar should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume up to the neck is physically larger, and the difference forms the headspace for the lid and the free space above the contents. With loose and solid fills, this headspace also makes it easier to remove pieces and prevents the contents from being crushed against the lid when closing.

The lid is screwed on and tightened by hand. The sealing insert functions properly with normal hand-tightening, and excessive force may damage the thread over time. The set can be opened and closed repeatedly without loss of seal, making it suitable for products that customers use gradually.

Before the first fill, wash both the jar and the lid, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture inside the container is the most common cause of premature reaction and disintegration in effervescent and bath tablets.

What is worth knowing

PET is not intended for hot filling. Insert tablets, salts and loose mixtures when cooled down, as the plastic may deform at higher temperatures.

For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, undiluted fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend verifying compatibility with the material on a test sample beforehand. Such substances may gradually degrade the plastic over time.

The set is not airtight in the sense of a vacuum seal. For moisture-sensitive fills such as effervescent tablets, salts or powders that clump, it helps to place a small sachet-type moisture absorber inside the jar and close it immediately after each use.

The jar has a smooth cylindrical wall that labels well. A light or metallic label stands out against the black background, as does direct printing.

Closures with the same neck type, as listed in the parameters, and other ready-matched combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the container with the specific fill.

The jar is made of PET and the lid of PP, both of which are commonly recyclable plastics. Before disposal, simply empty the container and separate the jar from the lid.

Frequently asked questions

Is the plastic tablet jar with lid suitable for food?
Yes, both the jar and the lid are approved for direct food contact. Both components have a separate declaration of conformity, which is available with the product. The jar can therefore be used for dietary supplements, tea, spices, dried herbs or homemade loose mixtures in the same way as for cosmetic products.
Does the black jar protect the contents from light?
Yes, the black PET wall is opaque and light does not pass through it. The contents are thus protected from colour fading and loss of fragrance, which light accelerates. For coloured bath tablets, products with essential oils or dried plant ingredients, this is an advantage over clear containers, which display the contents but do not protect them.
How much fits in the tablet jar?
The jar is filled to a nominal volume of 200 ml; the total volume up to the neck is larger and forms the headspace for the lid. The number of pieces or the weight of the fill varies for tablets and loose mixtures depending on size and bulk density, so we recommend carrying out a test fill and setting the declared quantity based on that.
Can the plastic tablet jar be reused?
Yes, the set is designed for repeated opening and closing. Before refilling, wash the jar and lid, disinfect them and allow to dry completely, just as before the first fill. Any lingering odour from a previous fill can be removed by soaking longer in warm water with a small amount of dish soap.
Is the jar suitable for creams and liquid products?
For thick anhydrous products such as body butters or balms filled cold, the jar is usable, but it is primarily intended for solid and loose fills. It is not suitable for thin liquids, lotions or oils — the wide neck does not allow precise dosing and the lid is not designed for long-term liquid sealing. For liquid contents, we recommend bottles with the appropriate closure from the Handymade range.
