Product description
A glass bottle with a volume of 15 ml and a neck size of 18/410 is a compact container for concentrated preparations dispensed in drops or small amounts. It is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil elixirs, essential oil blends, tinctures and samples, where precise dosing matters and where the contents should not come into contact with plastic. The transparent glass with a matte, milky surface looks uniform and clean, and diffuses light that would otherwise reach the contents directly.
Why choose this bottle
- Glass with no interaction with the contents – does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, does not leach substances into the contents and does not absorb scents. It is therefore also suitable for concentrated aromatic blends that plastic does not serve well over time.
- The matte surface diffuses light – milky glass transmits light more dimly than clear glass, and the contents are only vaguely visible through the wall. For highly sensitive ingredients, such as certain vitamins or unstable plant extracts, dark glass or storage away from direct light remains the safer choice.
- Small volume for concentrates – for serums and oil blends used drop by drop, 15 ml is sufficient for several weeks. A smaller volume also means less time during which an opened preparation is exposed to air.
- Standard 18/410 neck – one of the most common neck sizes for small bottles, so the choice of closure is not limited to a single model.
- Suitable for cosmetics – the container is confirmed as suitable for use with cosmetic products based on technical documentation and meets the applicable regulatory requirements. The declaration of suitability can be found in the product parameters.
Nominal and total volume
For every container we state two volume values, and it is useful to understand the difference. Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always higher. The difference provides a margin for the submerged part of the dropper or pump and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the dropper is fitted, or the closure will not tighten properly.
If you plan to use a dropper, fill the bottle to the nominal 15 ml and fit the dropper only after filling. The glass tube will displace some of the volume towards the neck; the margin is designed for this and there is no need to fill less.
Choosing a closure
The bottle is supplied without a closure. All closures with an 18/410 neck are compatible – droppers, pumps, sprayers and caps with a sealing insert. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation, especially for thin oils or alcohol-based tinctures, which more easily seep around the thread when the bottle is lying on its side.
What to know before filling
Preparation before first use. The bottles are supplied as new packaging, not as sterile containers. Before filling, we recommend washing them with warm water and dish soap, rinsing thoroughly, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely upside down. Residual water in an oil blend or anhydrous serum could cause cloudiness or promote microbial growth.
Glass and heat. Glass handles warm water during washing without any issue, but it is not designed for sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot mixture into a cold bottle; allow the contents to cool to at least lukewarm temperature, otherwise cracking is a risk.
Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough cleaning. Warm water with detergent removes oil residue; a brief soak in alcohol will loosen dried-on residue. The dropper with a rubber bulb has a shorter service life than the glass; inspect it with each refill and replace it when needed.
Labelling. The matte glass surface holds labels well. The labelling area is limited by the height of the cylindrical section; dimensions can be found in the product parameters. For smaller bottles, a narrow label wrapped around the body or marking on the cap has proven effective.
Milky glass reduces light penetration but is not equivalent to amber or cobalt blue glass. Store preparations that are highly sensitive to light in a box or in the dark, regardless of the colour of the container.
Recycling. Glass goes into the glass recycling bin; the closure should be removed before disposal and sorted according to its material.
