Product description

Clear plastic bottle, gold dispenser, 250 ml

The ready-to-use set of a clear PET bottle with a nominal volume of 250 ml and a dispenser in a black and gold finish is a solution for products that are dispensed repeatedly in small amounts. It is designed for liquid and medium-viscosity cosmetic products: liquid hand soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, light facial emulsions, massage or body oils, and makeup remover or cleansing gels.

The clear wall shows the contents and their colour, making it suitable for clear gels, coloured liquid soaps or products where the customer should be able to see how much is left. PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, which you will appreciate in the bathroom, at the shower and when shipping finished products.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle individually also holds a certificate for direct food contact, but the dispenser does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

Why choose this set

  • Hygienic dispensing – the dispenser delivers approximately 1 ml per press, the contents do not spill and the remainder in the bottle does not come into contact with hands. Suitable for soaps, gels and lotions in a shared bathroom or in a business setting.
  • View of the contents – through the clear wall you can see the colour, clarity and level of the product, which helps with stability monitoring and when selling coloured or glittery gels.
  • Durable material – PET does not crack when dropped on a tiled floor, there is no risk of shards in the bathtub or when unpacking a shipment.
  • Coordinated look – the black and gold dispenser looks clean on the clear bottle and pairs well with both dark and gold labels.
  • Ready-made combination – the threads of the bottle and dispenser are matched, so you do not need to worry about neck compatibility or leakage when buying components separately.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a buffer for the dip tube and the body of the dispenser, which occupy some space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the rim. If overfilled, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dispenser is attached, and the product will run down the thread, where it sticks and soils the label.

How to work with the set

The dispenser is a solution for liquid to medium-viscosity preparations that can be drawn up through a dip tube and pushed through a narrow nozzle. It dispenses liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels, lotions, oils and light emulsions well. Thick creams, butters and products with solid particles, such as scrubs with salt, sugar or ground seeds, will not be drawn up or will clog the dispenser. For such products, a jar or tub is more suitable.

On first use, the dispenser must be pressed several times until the dip tube is primed and the first dose comes out. With very thin products, such as tonics or hydrolats, the dose comes out quickly and may drip from the nozzle. For watery contents, a spray bottle or a bottle with a cap is therefore more suitable.

The dip tube of the dispenser should reach just above the bottom of the bottle. If it bends and rests against the bottom after fitting, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors using a straight cut, so that it draws up the very last remnants of the contents.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and dispenser with warm water, or disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute anhydrous products, such as oils, and would unnecessarily burden the preservation system of aqueous products.

Good to know

PET tolerates common cosmetic bases: water, glycerin, surfactant blends, vegetable oils and emulsions. However, it is not suitable for undiluted essential oils, strong solvents and aggressive chemicals that may cloud or soften the wall. Essential oils at standard cosmetic concentrations, i.e. diluted in a carrier, do not harm the plastic.

Always fill the bottle with contents that have cooled to room temperature. A hot emulsion or gel prepared at high temperature may deform the bottle or alter the shape of the neck so that the dispenser does not seat securely.

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light, such as oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or preparations containing vitamin C and retinol, should be stored in the dark or preferably filled into a dark or opaque bottle.

Each press of the dispenser draws air into the bottle — this is not an airless system. Aqueous products must therefore have adequate preservation, as they come into repeated contact with air and microorganisms during use. Anhydrous oils do not need a preservative; for sensitive oils an antioxidant will help.

The set can be reused. Before refilling, wash both the bottle and the dispenser thoroughly, flush the dispenser several times with clean water and allow to dry. The dispenser contains, in addition to plastic, aluminium parts, so separate it from the bottle when disposing of it. The bottle is made of PET, which is commonly recycled together with plastics.

The flat part of the bottle body is suitable for a label. When choosing a label, bear in mind that the back of the label and the contents will be visible through the clear wall, which can be distracting with dark products. Further closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the clear plastic bottle with dispenser 250 ml suitable for food products?
The set as a whole is not intended for food products. The PET bottle itself holds a certificate for direct food contact, but the dispenser does not, so the set — bottle plus dispenser — is declared only for cosmetic products. If you want to use the bottle for home oils or syrups, combine it with a closure that states food suitability in its parameters.
Can the dispenser pump thick cream or a scrub as well?
No, the dispenser cannot handle thick cream or a scrub. It is designed for liquid and medium-viscosity products that can be drawn up through a dip tube and pushed through a narrow nozzle: liquid soaps, gels, shampoos, lotions and oils. Thick butters, rich creams and products with solid particles will clog the dispenser or will not be drawn up at all. For these, a jar or tub is the right choice.
Can I fill a hot product into a PET bottle?
No, fill the PET bottle only after the contents have cooled to room temperature. A hot emulsion or gel heated during preparation can soften and deform the bottle wall and alter the shape of the neck, causing the dispenser not to seat securely. Allow the emulsion to cool in the vessel in which it was prepared, then transfer it to the bottle.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, a clear PET bottle does not protect the contents from light. The advantage is that you can see the colour and level of the product; the disadvantage is that light passes through to the contents. Products sensitive to light, such as oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or serums with vitamin C, should be stored away from direct sunlight or filled into a dark or opaque bottle.
How much product should I pour into the bottle when the nominal volume is 250 ml?
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume of 250 ml, not to the rim of the neck. The space above the nominal level is a buffer for the dip tube and the body of the dispenser, which take up some volume once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If overfilled, the contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dispenser is attached, soiling both the thread and the label.
Can the plastic bottle with dispenser be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dispenser can be used again after thorough cleaning. Wash the bottle with warm water and a mild detergent, flush the dispenser several times with clean water to remove any product residue from the tube and nozzle, and optionally disinfect both parts with isopropyl alcohol, then allow to dry. When switching from an aqueous to an oil-based product, make sure everything is completely dry.
