Product description
Black dropper with 18/410 thread is a closure with a dispensing tube that turns a glass bottle into a practical container for precise drop-by-drop dispensing. It is suitable for liquid preparations from which small amounts are taken at a time, from facial serums to tinctures. The black cap looks understated and elegant on brown, blue, or clear glass bottles, which is why it is often used with serums and natural cosmetics in smaller sizes.
The dropper combines several materials, each serving its purpose. The plastic cap holds the thread, the glass tube is in contact with the contents, and the silicone bulb is used for drawing up liquid. It is complemented by an aluminium element in silver. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity can be found with the product in the documents.
Why dose with a dropper
- Precise amount – the contents are dispensed drop by drop, which is an advantage with concentrated serums, oil blends or tinctures. The customer can easily measure out the recommended amount without spilling.
- Hygienic dispensing – no fingers go into the bottle; the tube draws only what is actually used, and the remaining contents stay protected inside.
- Glass tube – glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, does not absorb fragrance or colour, and is easy to clean, making it suitable for oil-based and alcohol-based contents as well. It is, however, fragile, so handle the dropper with care.
- Easy to use – squeeze the bulb, submerge the tube, release, dispense. No pump and no risk of spilling when tilting the bottle.
Use and bottle selection
The dropper screws onto a bottle with an 18/410 neck, which is a common thread type for small glass bottles for serums and oils. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend checking the seal, tube length, and how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.
Besides the thread, the length of the glass tube – which you will find in the product parameters – is decisive. The tube should reach just to the bottom of the bottle so that the last of the contents can be drawn up. If it is too long, the dropper will not seat properly on the neck and will not seal. If it is too short, the last few millilitres cannot be drawn up. Always compare the length with the height of your specific bottle.
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the packaging is designed under normal filling conditions; the total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
The dropper works best with liquids of low to medium viscosity: oils, aqueous and alcohol-based solutions, light serums and concentrates. Thick gels and creams cannot be drawn up by the bulb; for such textures, a pump or jar is more suitable.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums and concentrates of active ingredients, where a few drops are dispensed.
- Oil serums, facial oils, beard oils, nail and cuticle oils.
- Tinctures, herbal extracts and alcohol-based preparations in small packaging.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil for spot application.
- Samples and test batches where precise dosing is useful.
Good to know
Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. This applies especially to aqueous formulations, where the cleanliness of the packaging affects product stability. The same procedure applies when reusing. The silicone bulb is easy to clean; simply rinse the glass tube and let it dry.
For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking in advance how the silicone bulb behaves. Prolonged contact with concentrated ingredients may soften or deform some elastomers. This is not an issue with commonly diluted cosmetic blends.
