Introduction
Dropper white-silver matte, 84 mm is a closure with a glass pipette and a squeeze bulb for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid preparations. It screws onto bottles with an 18/410 neck and is suitable wherever you need to draw out a small amount of content without spilling and without finger contact with the product, for example with serums, facial oils or concentrates of active ingredients.
The combination of matte white and silver finish looks clean and understated, pairs with white, milky, amber and clear glass, and lets the product label stand out.
What the dropper is made of
The dropper consists of several materials, each serving a different purpose:
- Glass pipette – the only part in direct contact with the contents during normal dispensing. Glass does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol-based preparations, making the dropper suitable for concentrated blends as well.
- Silicone bulb – draws in and releases liquid when squeezed. Silicone is flexible and retains its shape even with repeated use.
- Aluminium collar with matte finish – the outer sleeve that gives the closure a solid feel.
- PP plastic thread – the inner part with an 18/410 thread that secures the dropper onto the bottle neck.
What the dropper is suitable for
The dropper is suitable for preparations with low to medium viscosity: facial serums on both water and oil bases, dry and nourishing oils, oil blends for hair and nails, tinctures, propolis and herbal extracts, concentrates of active ingredients and essential oil blends for dilution. Thick gels and creams are difficult to draw up through the pipette and drop-by-drop dispensing loses its purpose with them.
The closure is suitable for use with cosmetic products; the suitability declaration can be found in the product parameters. Food-contact compliance data are not available for this dropper, so we recommend using it for cosmetic preparations only.
How to use the dropper
The length of the glass pipette is chosen according to the height of the bottle. The pipette should reach just above the bottom so that the last of the contents can be drawn out, but must not rest on the bottom, as this risks cracking it when the dropper is screwed on. Bottles with an 18/410 neck and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations we recommend checking the seal, pipette length and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
Before filling for the first time, disassemble the dropper into parts that can be separated without force, wash them, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the pipette could cause cloudiness in an anhydrous oil.
When filling, leave a reserve for the volume of the pipette in the bottle. If you fill the bottle to the neck, the glass pipette will push some of the contents out when screwed on. Fill only to the nominal volume stated in the bottle parameters, not to the brim.
Good to know
- Essential oils and alcohol blends – glass handles them without issue. Do not expose the silicone bulb to prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents; do not invert a filled bottle with the dropper drawn up.
- Repeated use – after thorough washing and disinfection the dropper can be reused. When switching between different preparations, check whether any scent of the previous contents remains in the silicone bulb.
- Labelling – the dropper itself is not labelled; the label belongs on the bottle. When indicating volume, use the nominal volume of the bottle, not its total capacity to the brim.
- Recycling – the closure combines glass, plastic, silicone and aluminium. Before disposing, separate the parts that can be disassembled and sort them by material.
The glass pipette is fragile. Do not overtighten the dropper and do not use it with bottles where the pipette hits the bottom.
