- Description
- Vitamin B3 , also known as nicotinamide or niacinamide, is a water‑soluble form of B‑group vitamin. In cosmetic grade it is produced by controlled chemical synthesis or biotechnological processes based on nicotinic acid, resulting in a highly pure, stable active ingredient that is very well tolerated by the skin. Unlike nicotinic acid, it does not cause the so‑called “flush effect” (transient skin redness), which makes it one of the most versatile and most widely used active ingredients in modern cosmetics. Key benefits Support of the skin barrier – increases ceramide synthesis and reduces transepidermal water loss. Regulation of sebum production – suitable for oily and acne‑prone skin. Evening out skin tone – helps reduce hyperpigmentation and uneven coloration. Anti‑inflammatory effect – soothes redness and sensitive skin. Support of skin vitality – contributes to better elasticity and the overall appearance of the skin. Suitable for products such as facial serums and creams for problematic and oily skin, products for sensitive and reactive skin, anti‑aging formulations, products targeting skin brightening, body lotions and creams. Use in formulation soluble in water, compatible with most common cosmetic raw materials, miscible with moisturizing agents, antioxidants and botanical extracts, recommended usage level: usually 2–5 % (depending on the product type). It is recommended to add it during the cooling phase (at a temperature below 40 °C). Safety and storage Vitamin B3 is generally considered a very well tolerated cosmetic raw material.
