Men’s Face Toner is a lightweight hydrating toner created specifically for the needs of men’s skin, inspired by the Japanese approach to skincare: fewer steps, a well‑thought‑out composition and an emphasis on functional ingredients.
The star of the entire formulation is 5% niacinamide, complemented by hydrating, soothing and barrier‑supporting components.
This formulation was prepared for you by our formulator Ida, whom you may also know from Instagram as @si.nature. This time she focused on men’s skin and created a simple, functional toner inspired by the Japanese approach to skincare.
Men’s Face Toner is a lightweight hydrating toner created specifically for the needs of men’s skin. Its concept is based on the philosophy of fewer steps, a well‑thought‑out composition and an emphasis on functional ingredients.
The star of the entire formulation is 5% niacinamide, which Ida has complemented with hydrating, soothing and barrier‑supporting components. The result is a minimalist formulation suitable as a simple everyday step after cleansing the skin.
Niacinamide, also known as nicotinamide or vitamin B3, belongs among very versatile cosmetic ingredients.
For men’s skin it is particularly interesting because it helps support the skin barrier, regulate excessive sebum production and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Regular use can also contribute to a more even skin tone and a visibly smoother appearance of pores.
Men’s skin tends on average to be thicker and often produces more sebum. On top of that comes regular shaving, which can mechanically stress the skin. Niacinamide therefore represents a practical ingredient for a simple everyday routine.
We have combined niacinamide with several ingredients that complement each other.
Centella asiatica – 4% A popular botanical ingredient known for its soothing properties. It is particularly suitable for formulations aimed at comfort and support of the skin.
Panthenol B5 – 3% A humectant that helps the skin retain hydration and at the same time supports its natural barrier function.
Sodium PCA – 1% A component of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor. It helps bind water and contributes to a pleasantly hydrated feel of the skin.
Allantoin – 0.3% An ingredient popular for its soothing and protective properties.
Low‑molecular‑weight hyaluronic acid – 0.2% Helps replenish hydration and supports a fresh and comfortable feel of the skin.
The aqueous phase consists of four hydrosols:
Witch hazel is traditionally popular in products intended for skin prone to excessive sebum production. Frankincense, lavender and helichrysum hydrosol give the formulation a botanical character and complement its overall focus.
In cosmetic manufacturing, hygiene is fundamental. First, thoroughly disinfect all tools, containers and packaging.
Gradually mix the hydrosols and then add the individual active ingredients. After each addition, mix the blend thoroughly.
Pre‑mix the low‑molecular‑weight hyaluronic acid in 0.5 g of glycerin. Thanks to this, it will be easier to incorporate it evenly into the aqueous formulation.
Gradually add Centella asiatica, niacinamide, panthenol B5, Sodium PCA and allantoin.
Finally, add the preservative and mix everything thoroughly once again.
Before filling, it is necessary to check the pH of the final product and adjust it if needed so that it is suitable for the skin and for the preservative system used.
Fill the finished toner into disinfected packaging.
Men’s Face Toner is designed as a simple step after cleansing the skin. It can be used in the morning and in the evening and is a suitable intermediate step between cleansing and subsequent skincare.
