Product description

The plastic sprayer 24/410 with a shiny silver collar turns an ordinary bottle into a practical container for tonics, hydrolats and other thin liquids applied as a fine mist. Pressing the head disperses a small, even dose, so skin and hair are not over-saturated and the contents are used up slowly. The transparent head looks unobtrusive and the shiny collar gives even a plain bottle a neat appearance, making it suitable for home products and small-scale production alike.

The sprayer fits all bottles with a 24/410 neck. Ready-made bottle + sprayer combinations and individual bottles with this neck type are available in the Handymade range. The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Facial tonics and hydrolats – a fine mist covers the skin evenly without dripping; the contents do not need to be applied with a cotton pad.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – thin aqueous or hydroalcoholic solutions can be applied along the lengths without unnecessary over-wetting.
  • Perfumed waters and room sprays – the sprayer disperses hydroalcoholic solutions as well; at higher alcohol concentrations we recommend checking the head's performance over time.
  • Disinfecting and cleaning solutions – for household cleaning products or isopropyl alcohol for disinfecting work surfaces, a mechanical sprayer is a practical dispenser.

Good to know

The sprayer works on the principle of a small piston pump with a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. On first use, the head needs to be pressed several times without effect until the tube fills and the first dose is dispensed. The tube can be trimmed with a sharp knife or scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle without bending. A bent tube draws in air and the sprayer then "spits".

The sprayer is intended for liquids with viscosity close to water. Thickened tonics, emulsions, gels and most plant oils will either not pass through it at all or will jet rather than mist. If you slightly thicken the contents (for example with glycerin or panthenol), check functionality before filling an entire batch.

When fitted, the sprayer takes up space in the bottle neck and its tube displaces some of the contents upwards. Bottles are therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is greater, and the difference provides a reserve for the closure, the dip tube, and expansion of the contents when temperature changes.

The body of the sprayer is made of polypropylene (PP); the aluminium collar is a decorative element on the outside. PP tolerates aqueous solutions, alcohol and common surfactants well. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the seal and pump action after a few weeks, as some ingredients can soften the plastic over time. The sprayer is not designed for hot filling; let the contents cool before filling.

The sprayer is not a hermetic closure for transport. Do not leave a bottle fitted with a sprayer lying on its side for extended periods, especially with alcoholic solutions. For postal shipping, it is better to close the filled bottle with a cap and enclose the sprayer separately.

Preparation, cleaning and reuse

Before first filling, we recommend flushing the sprayer with clean water (pump through several times), then with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing it to dry freely. Once empty, it can be reused: pump warm water through the head and tube, or a weak detergent solution, until clean water comes out of the nozzle, and disinfect in the same way as before first use. If thickened or sticky contents dry out inside the pump, the mechanism may seize. Rinse the sprayer immediately after the contents are used up.

At the end of its service life, the empty and rinsed sprayer belongs in plastic waste. Separate the aluminium collar if it can be removed.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the plastic sprayer 24/410 fit?
The plastic sprayer 24/410 fits any bottle with a 24/410 neck, whether glass or plastic. When selecting a bottle, check the thread type listed in its specifications. The bottle volume itself does not matter, as the sprayer dip tube can be trimmed to the required length. Ready-made bottle + sprayer sets are available in the Handymade range.
Can the plastic sprayer be used to spray oil?
A pure plant oil will generally not spray through a plastic sprayer — it will either jet or the pump will not draw it up. The sprayer is designed for liquids with viscosity close to water, such as tonics, hydrolats and hydroalcoholic solutions. With any oil, we recommend testing with one bottle before filling an entire batch.
Why does the sprayer not dispense anything on the first press?
On first use, both the dip tube and the pump are empty and need to be primed. Press the head several times in succession until the contents reach the nozzle; after that it will dispense with each press. If the sprayer still does not spray after repeated pressing, check that the dip tube reaches the liquid and is not bent or pinched in the bottle neck.
Is the plastic sprayer suitable for alcohol-based products and perfumed waters?
Yes, the polypropylene body of the sprayer tolerates hydroalcoholic solutions and is commonly used for perfumed waters and room sprays. At high alcohol and essential oil content, we recommend checking whether the head or gasket shows any changes after a few weeks. Store the bottle upright, as the sprayer is not a hermetic closure.
Can the plastic sprayer be reused after it is empty?
Yes, the sprayer can be reused if it is rinsed immediately after the contents are used up. Pump warm water through until clean water comes out of the nozzle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry. Sprayers in which thickened or sticky contents have dried out are not suitable for reuse, as the mechanism then seizes.
