Plastic spray pump 24/410 – fine mist for tonics, hydrosols and facial mists

This mechanical spray pump turns any bottle with a 24/410 neck into a finished spray product. Each press releases a small, even dose as a fine mist, making it ideal for thin, water-based preparations: facial tonics, hydrosols, refreshing face and body mists, hair sprays, or linen and room freshener solutions.

The spray pump is intended for cosmetic products. Based on technical documentation, we declare that the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetics and meets the applicable regulatory requirements.

How the spray pump works

• Head with nozzle – pressing with a finger pushes a dose from the mechanism chamber, which the nozzle disperses into a fine mist.
• Smooth collar – the threaded part without knurling that screws onto the bottle neck. The smooth surface wipes clean easily and does not trap product residue. The white finish looks clean, does not compete with the label, and pairs well with both glass and plastic bottles.
• Dip tube – draws the contents from the bottom of the bottle. Supplied at a length suited for taller bottles; trim to fit shorter ones.
• PP material – polypropylene is lightweight, unbreakable, and compatible with water-based and mildly alcoholic solutions.

Use in formulation

The spray pump works best with contents that have a viscosity close to water. Tonics, hydrosols, aqueous solutions of active ingredients, diluted alcoholic preparations, and light hair sprays disperse into an even mist. The thicker the liquid, the more likely the mist turns into a stream or the pump stops dispensing. Thick serums, emulsions, and pure plant oils are therefore not suitable for this type of mechanism.

With solubilised essential oils (for example in an aqueous tonic with a solubiliser), the pump generally works without issue. Long-term compatibility at a specific essential oil concentration should nonetheless be verified in the finished formulation. We also recommend checking seal integrity and dispensing performance with preparations containing a higher alcohol content.

Suitable for products such as

• Facial tonics and mists – the fine mist spreads evenly over the face without the need for a cotton pad.
• Hydrosols – rose, lavender or calendula water applied directly to skin or hair.
• Hair sprays – aqueous solutions with conditioning ingredients, curl refreshers, sea salt sprays.
• Body and room fresheners – water-alcohol blends with fragrance, linen and fabric sprays.
• Hand and surface sprays – diluted alcoholic solutions, provided you verify seal integrity at the given concentration.

Good to know

Before filling for the first time, flush the mechanism: pump clean water or diluted ethanol or isopropyl alcohol through it several times and allow to dry. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Headspace above the liquid is needed for the dip tube, the mechanism, and the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Tighten the pump by hand with moderate force — overtightening may damage the seal or thread.

For repeated use, unscrew the pump from the bottle and pump warm water followed by clean water through it until the liquid coming from the nozzle is clear. Residues from products containing sugars, extracts, or thickeners clog the nozzle once dried.

The spray pump is made of polypropylene and, once emptied and rinsed, belongs in the sorted plastics recycling stream.
