Amber Glass Square Bottle, 90 ml, 80 pcs

This amber glass medicine bottle with a square body and a nominal volume of 90 ml is designed for filling cosmetics that need protection from light. Amber glass reduces the penetration of UV radiation and so slows the degradation of vegetable oils, essential oils and light-sensitive active ingredients. The four-sided shape stands firmly on a shelf and stores well in a box. The pack contains 80 pcs.

What it is good for

The 90 ml volume suits products that are used up steadily and should not stand open for too long. This bottle is most often filled with:

• Face and body oils – blends of vegetable oils with essential oils, which would lose their scent and turn yellow faster in clear glass.
• Hair serums and oils – dark glass protects vitamins, antioxidants and extracts from light.
• Tinctures and herbal macerates – alcohol-based and glycerine extracts; glass does not transfer any odour or plasticisers to them.
• Toners and facial waters – with a fine mist sprayer or dropper, depending on the thickness of the contents.
• Massage oils and aftershave oils – in a smaller, travel or gift format.

Glass is chemically resistant, so it withstands contents with a higher proportion of ethanol, essential oils or solvents, which can soften or cloud some plastics over time. Volume and filling

With packaging, a distinction is made between nominal and total volume. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure or dropper and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Closures and combinations

The bottle has an 18 mm thread. Closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle plus closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. If you build your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. A dropper dispenses thick oils more slowly, and alcohol-based contents dry out faster on the seal.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottles, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely, neck down. Residual water in an oil-based product encourages the growth of microorganisms and spoils the stability of emulsions.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle or vice versa, and when filling while warm, bring the packaging to a matching temperature first. With vegetable oils and toners filled at room temperature, this risk does not arise.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. The exception is packaging that held strongly aromatic contents. The scent clings to the seal of the closure; the glass itself does not absorb it. Empty, rinsed glass belongs in the glass recycling bin.
