Glass bottle, green, 18 mm, 100 ml

Green glass bottle with a narrow neck for 100 ml of liquid cosmetic preparations. It is suitable for face and body oils, serums, toners, hydrosols, tinctures, massage blends and diluted fragrance and herbal infusions, that is, for anything that is poured or dispensed drop by drop from a bottle. Green glass filters out part of the light, so light-sensitive contents are better protected than in clear glass, while the fill level remains visible. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, so the bottle can also hold contents that, over time, penetrate or alter plastic.

The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements. It is supplied in packs of 70.

What it is suitable for

• Oil serums and face oils – the narrow neck limits the access of air to the contents each time the bottle is opened, and the tinted glass helps slow down changes caused by light.
• Hydrosols and toners – the smaller volume is used up sooner, while the water phase is still fresh and the preservation is effective.
• Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – alcohol does not harm glass, does not draw any substances out of it and does not affect the scent of the contents.
• Massage and bath blends with essential oils – concentrated fragrance components are stored in glass without the risk of softening or clouding the wall of the packaging.
• Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, the same packaging can also be used to set aside a control sample.

The bottle is not suitable for thick creams and butters, as they are difficult to fill and remove through the narrow neck. Jars or bottles with a wider neck are more suitable for such textures.

Nominal volume and brimful volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure, dropper or pump, which take up part of the space in the neck once fitted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents are pushed out when the bottle is closed, or the seal of the closure does not sit correctly.

Choosing a closure

The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. Closures, droppers, pumps and sprayers with this type of neck, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, ease of dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation in advance, for example whether the dropper can cope with the viscosity of the oil in question.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottles, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely, upside down. Residual moisture in an anhydrous product encourages the growth of microorganisms and impairs stability.

After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottles can be reused. With fragrance and oil contents, bear in mind that the scent of the previous contents is easily removed from the glass, but less easily from the seal of the closure. When changing the product, it is more sensible to replace the closure.

Once emptied and rinsed, the glass is fully recyclable and is sorted as coloured glass.
