Product description

The green glass roll-on bottle 100 ml is a complete set ready for direct filling: a glass medicine bottle with an 18/410 neck finish, a roller ball insert with a metal ball and a black plastic cap. The contents are applied by rolling the ball over the skin, without dripping and without your fingers touching the contents. It is suitable above all for oil blends with essential oils, massage and aromatherapy oils, perfume oils or roll-on deodorants.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You can find the declaration of conformity on the product page. It is not intended for contact with food.

How the set works

After filling, the roller ball insert is placed on the neck of the bottle and pressed in firmly, and the cap is then screwed onto the 18/410 thread. The steel ball sits in a clear polypropylene insert. When rolled, it turns and transfers a thin layer of the contents onto the skin. Dispensing is even and economical, which you will appreciate with blends containing a higher proportion of essential oils, where only a small amount is applied.

The 100 ml volume is a larger format among roll-on packaging. It suits massage oils for larger areas, deodorants or blends that are used daily and where a 10 ml bottle would quickly be empty. For concentrated perfume oils or more expensive blends, consider whether the contents will be used up within a reasonable time.

The consistency of the contents determines how the ball will behave. Thin oils and alcohol-based solutions roll smoothly, while thicker gels can get stuck in the insert. Before filling a larger batch, we recommend trying one bottle with the finished formulation.

What it is suitable for

  • Oil blends with essential oils – pulse point, sleep or relaxation blends in a carrier oil. The ball applies exactly as much as is needed.
  • Massage and aromatherapy oils – a larger volume and rolling over a larger area, for example the neck, shoulders or feet.
  • Roll-on deodorants – both water-based and alcohol-based formulations, as long as they have a viscosity that lets the ball roll freely.
  • Perfume oils and alcohol-based perfumes – small doses on pulse points without spilling and without your fingers touching the contents.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is intended with normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the roller ball insert, which takes up part of the space in the neck once inserted, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will push the contents out when the insert is pressed in, and the thread may become soiled.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, the roller ball insert and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. With an oil filling, moisture in the ball insert would show up as cloudiness, and in water-based formulations it increases the risk of microbial contamination.

Do not fill the glass with hot contents. A sudden change in temperature can damage it, and the polypropylene insert is harder to fit into a warm neck. Let the filling cool to room temperature, then fill.

Both the cap and the ball insert are made of polypropylene. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils or with solvents, we recommend checking how the insert behaves with your specific formulation, as well as its tightness during transport and storage lying on its side.

The roller ball insert holds firmly once fitted, and to reuse the bottle it must be carefully prised out, ideally with a flat tool from the side. If it is removed forcefully, the insert may be damaged and will then leak.

The bottle can be reused. Wash out oil residues with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse with ethanol and dry. When sorting waste, separate the glass from the plastic cap and the roller ball insert.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 100 ml glass roll-on bottle suitable for oil blends with essential oils?
Yes, the set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and oil blends with essential oils are its typical filling. The roller ball insert and the cap are made of polypropylene. For blends with a high concentration of essential oils, it is advisable to check how the insert behaves with your own formulation. With concentrated blends, also bear in mind that 100 ml takes longer to use up.
How is the roll-on bottle filled, and why not to the brim?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, then the roller ball insert is pressed into the neck and the cap is screwed on. The insert takes up part of the space in the neck and the contents expand slightly when the temperature changes, which is why there is a reserve above the nominal volume. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents are pushed out when the insert is fitted and soil the thread.
Can the glass roll-on bottle also be used for a water-based deodorant?
Yes, the set is declared suitable for cosmetic products, including water-based formulations. Viscosity is the deciding factor: a thin water-based filling rolls smoothly, but when the bottle is lying down it may leak slightly from the ball insert, so we recommend checking the tightness. Water-based formulations need a preservative and packaging that has been thoroughly disinfected before filling.
Can the roll-on bottle be cleaned and used again?
Yes, both the glass and the roller ball insert can be washed and reused. Carefully prise the insert out of the neck, wash the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, rinse with ethanol and let it dry. If the insert is damaged when removed or no longer seals, replace it with a new roller ball with an 18/410 thread.
How thick can the filling be for the ball in the roll-on bottle to roll?
Thin oils, alcohol-based solutions and water-based toners work best. Thicker gels or blends with waxes get stuck in the ball insert and are applied unevenly. No exact upper limit of viscosity has been set, so we recommend trying one bottle with the finished formulation before filling the whole batch.
