Glass bottle, vial, type B, roll-on, 100 ml

A ready-to-use assembly for applying liquid preparations directly to the skin: a glass bottle in the shape of a vial with a nominal volume of 100 ml, a steel ball in a plastic fitment, and a black screw cap with an 18/410 neck finish. The contents are spread by the ball, so dispensing is drip-free and without finger contact. The 100 ml volume suits preparations applied to larger areas of the body.

Glass does not react with the contents and is compatible with aqueous, alcohol-based and oil-based formulations. The food-contact certificate applies to the bottle alone; the ball fitment and cap do not hold it. The assembly as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetic products, for which all three components are certified.

How the assembly works

• Bottle – a glass body in vial form, resistant to essential oils and alcohol without any change.
• Ball with fitment – a steel ball set in a polypropylene fitment that is pressed into the bottle neck. When the bottle is turned upside down, the ball is wetted by the contents and spreads them evenly as it moves across the skin.
• Cap – a black polypropylene closure that covers the ball and prevents the contents from drying out or leaking during transport.

Suitable applications

The roll-on works best with fluid contents: aqueous and aqueous-alcohol deodorants, body tonics, light oils, blends of carrier and essential oils for massage, and cooling preparations with menthol for tired legs. Slightly thickened gels also pass through the ball. With thick creams and balms, the ball catches and application is uneven. Anhydrous oil blends are spread by the ball in a thin layer, which suits body and massage preparations.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the ball fitment, which extends into the neck, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the fitment is pressed in.

Good to know

The ball fitment and cap are made of polypropylene, which is resistant to common cosmetic formulations. With a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the plastic components with your specific formulation, as well as the seal when carried in a handbag or travel bag.

The glass bottle can be washed and refilled after emptying. The ball fitment is harder to remove from the neck and residues of the contents settle in it, so replace it with a new one when refilling, especially after use with a deodorant. The label area is on the cylindrical part of the bottle.

After use, the bottle goes into glass recycling, the cap and plastic fitment into plastic recycling, and the steel ball into metals.
