Product description

The black glossy dropper is a drop-dispensing cap for bottles with an 18/410 neck. It is suitable wherever the contents need to be dispensed precisely and in small amounts – for facial serums, facial oils, essential oil blends, tinctures or concentrated active ingredients. The glossy black finish complements both dark and clear glass and gives the bottle a uniform, clean look without prominent graphics.

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a collar in black glossy finish made of aluminium and plastic. Glass does not react with oils or alcohol-based extracts, silicone retains its shape and returns after compression, and the threaded collar ensures a secure fit on the bottle neck. The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product.

Key properties

  • Precise dispensing – contents are dispensed drop by drop, which is practical for serums, oils and concentrates where a few drops are sufficient for a single use.
  • Glass tube – does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol, does not absorb scent or colour from the contents.
  • Silicone bulb – flexible and durable, returns to its original shape after compression and draws the contents into the tube.
  • Glossy black collar – matches brown, blue and clear bottles and visually unifies an entire product range.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the customer does not touch the contents with their fingers, which is an advantage especially for leave-on facial products.

Selecting a dropper for your bottle

Two pieces of information matter: the neck type and the tube length. The neck must be 18/410; otherwise the dropper will not seat properly or will not seal. The tube length of 56 mm determines how far it reaches into the bottle – it should end just above the bottom so that the last of the contents can be drawn up, but it should not rest on the bottom. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, tube length and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The difference between the nominal and total volume is a reserve precisely for the dropper tube – if the bottle is filled to the neck, inserting the dropper will cause the contents to overflow.

Using the dropper

Before first use, it is recommended to disassemble the dropper, wash it with warm water, optionally disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would dilute oil-based formulations and introduce moisture into anhydrous products.

When dispensing, hold the bottle at a slight angle, squeeze the bulb and release it while the tube is submerged. After use, return the dropper to the bottle and screw it on. Between uses, the bottle should stand upright so that the contents do not enter the bulb.

The contents should not enter the silicone bulb. When drawing up the contents, do not tilt the bottle upside down – liquid in the bulb is difficult to remove and with oils and essential oils can affect its flexibility over time.

Good to know

  • Essential oils and solvents – glass tolerates them without restriction. The bulb does not come into contact with the contents during normal use, but the vapours inside the bottle act on it continuously.
  • Consistency of contents – the dropper works best with liquid to slightly viscous products. Thick serums with a higher proportion of thickeners are drawn up slowly and drops form with difficulty; in that case a pump dispenser is more suitable.
  • Reuse – the dropper can be reused after washing and disinfection, but when changing the contents, bear in mind that silicone may retain the scent of the previous product.
  • Labelling – the dropper collar is narrow; the label belongs on the bottle. The dimensions of the label area are given in the parameters of the specific bottle.
  • Recycling – the dropper is composed of several materials (glass, silicone, aluminium, plastic); it is recommended to disassemble it into individual parts before sorting for recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles is the black glossy dropper 56 mm suitable for?
For bottles with an 18/410 neck type whose height corresponds to a tube length of 56 mm. The tube should reach just above the bottom of the bottle so that the last of the contents can be drawn up. Before ordering larger quantities, we recommend testing the dropper with the specific bottle, as neck height and bottom shape vary between bottles.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, the glass tube is resistant to essential oils and alcohol and does not absorb scent from the contents. The silicone bulb does not come into contact with the contents during normal use, but with highly concentrated essential oil blends we recommend monitoring its behaviour over time, as the vapours inside the bottle act on it continuously.
How is the dropper cleaned before first filling?
The dropper is disassembled, washed with warm water, optionally disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allowed to dry completely. It is important to dry both the tube and the bulb so that no water enters oil-based or anhydrous formulations. The same procedure applies when reusing the dropper with different contents.
Can a thick serum or gel be dispensed with a dropper?
Only to a limited extent. The dropper draws up liquid and slightly viscous products; with thick gel serums with a higher proportion of thickeners, the tube fills slowly and drops do not form evenly. For thick textures, a pump dispenser or jar is more suitable; the dropper is intended for oils, light serums, tinctures and concentrates.
Why should a bottle with a dropper not be filled to the brim?
Because the dropper tube takes up part of the volume when inserted, and excess contents would overflow. Bottles are therefore filled to the nominal volume, which allows for a reserve for the cap, and not to the total volume up to the neck. The reserve also allows the contents to expand slightly with changes in temperature.
