Silver shiny dropper, 71 mm

Silver shiny dropper fits bottles with 18/410 neck finish and dispenses the contents drop by drop. It consists of a glass dip tube, a silicone bulb and a shiny silver aluminium collar. Suitable for facial serums, facial and hair oils, tinctures, essential oil blends and concentrated active ingredients applied in small amounts. Suitable for use with cosmetic products.

The silver shiny collar pairs well with brown, blue and clear glass, and the white bulb is clearly visible during dispensing. From a functional perspective, the dropper length matters: the glass tube should reach just above the bottom of the bottle so the contents can be drawn out to almost the last drop. How to use the dropper

The dropper screws onto a bottle with an 18/410 neck instead of a cap. To dispense, squeeze the bulb, submerge the tube in the contents and slowly release. The tube fills up and drops are then dispensed by gentle pressure on the bulb. Drop size depends on the density and viscosity of the contents, so test it once with a new formulation.

When filling, bear in mind that the dropper tube will displace some of the contents once screwed in. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck, and the difference between them is the allowance for the dropper and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

What is good to know

• Preparation before first filling – disassemble the dropper, wash the glass tube and bulb, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water would introduce moisture into an anhydrous serum or oil.
• Glass in contact with the contents – the dip tube is glass, reacts minimally with the contents and is suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based tinctures. The silicone bulb comes into contact with the contents only briefly during drawing.
• This is not an airtight closure – the dropper seals less effectively than a solid cap and the contents are aerated with each use. For oxidation-sensitive oils, a smaller bottle that is used up sooner is recommended, or the addition of an antioxidant to the formulation.
• Shiny collar – the aluminium collar with a glossy finish is more susceptible to scratches than a matte one. Tightening by hand is sufficient; pliers or excessive force will damage the surface and may deform the thread.
• Reuse – after washing and disinfection, the dropper can be used again. A bulb that has lost its elasticity or changed colour after prolonged contact with essential oils is best replaced.
• Recycling – this is a multi-component closure. Once disassembled, the glass tube goes into glass, the aluminium collar into metals and the plastic parts into plastics.
