Product description

The shiny silver dropper 84 mm is a closure with a glass tube for bottles with an 18/410 neck, enabling precise drop-by-drop dispensing. It is best suited for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and active ingredient concentrates, where a small amount needs to be taken without pouring and without unnecessary contact of the contents with air and fingers.

What the dropper consists of

  • Glass tube – reaches into the contents of the bottle. Glass is chemically stable, does not absorb fragrance or colour and is suitable for oil, alcohol and water-based contents.
  • Silicone bulb – a flexible white tip used to draw up and dispense the contents when pressed. Silicone retains its elasticity even with repeated use.
  • Threaded collar – aluminium shell with a shiny silver finish and a plastic thread inside. It screws onto the bottle neck and ensures a seal. The understated silver appearance can be combined with clear, amber and blue glass.

What it is suitable for

The dropper makes sense wherever the product is dispensed drop by drop and in small quantities:

  • Facial and oil serums – dispensing a few drops directly onto the palm or skin.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – precise dosing into a diffuser, massage oil or soap mass.
  • Tinctures and herbal extracts – alcohol-based contents, where the glass of the tube does not react with the solvent.
  • Active ingredient concentrates – samples and small packages where the substance is added to a finished base drop by drop.

The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, high-viscosity gels or contents with solid particles that would get stuck in the narrow tube.

Good to know

Tube length must correspond to the height of the bottle. A correctly chosen dropper reaches just above the bottom so that the remaining contents can also be drawn out, but must not rest against the bottom. Otherwise the collar will not tighten and the closure will not seal. The dropper length and bottle dimensions are listed in the specifications; when selecting, simply compare these figures.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The headspace above the fill level is needed precisely for the dropper tube, which after screwing in pushes part of the contents towards the neck. If filled to the brim, the contents will overflow and soil the thread.

Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting the dropper (for example with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and allowing it to dry completely. Moisture in the tube can cause cloudiness in oil-based contents and put strain on the preservation of water-based contents.

For repeated use, the dropper can be disassembled into the bulb, glass tube and collar. Glass and silicone withstand normal cleaning without damage, but do not clean the shiny metal collar with abrasive products to avoid scratching it.

Contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents come into contact primarily with the glass of the tube, which is an advantage. However, with long-term storage of such blends it is advisable to check how the silicone bulb and plastic thread behave with the specific formulation, especially if the dropper remains on the bottle permanently.

The glass tube is fragile. It can break if the bottle is dropped or if it is forced into the neck. Insert the dropper straight, without lateral pressure, and when shipping to customers, include protective packaging.

The dropper is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements; the declaration of conformity is available with the product. An assessment of suitability for contact with food is not available for this closure, so we recommend using it for cosmetic and technical contents.

Bottles with the same type of neck and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and behaviour of the closure with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

What bottles does the 18/410 dropper fit?
The dropper with an 18/410 thread fits bottles with the same neck designation regardless of their material or colour. The neck designation determines the seal; the tube length then determines for what bottle height the dropper is suitable. Both figures are listed in the specifications of both bottles and droppers; when selecting, simply compare them.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, the dropper is commonly used for pure essential oils and their blends, as the glass tube is in the longest contact with the contents. With concentrated blends and long-term storage it is advisable to monitor the condition of the silicone bulb and thread, as some components of essential oils can over time affect elastic materials.
Why does the dropper not seal or cannot be tightened?
The most common cause is a tube that is too long and rests against the bottom of the bottle, or contents filled to the brim. The tube should reach just above the bottom and the bottle should only be filled to the nominal volume. If the thread is clean and the bottle has an 18/410 neck, the collar will seal when properly tightened.
Can the dropper be washed and reused?
Yes, the dropper can be disassembled, washed and reused. The bulb is pulled off the collar, the glass tube is removed, and all parts are washed, disinfected and left to dry completely. When switching between different contents, thorough drying is important to prevent water or residue from the previous fill from getting into the new product.
How to dispense correctly with the dropper?
Press the bulb, immerse the tube in the contents and release the bulb to fill the tube. Then lift it above your palm or a container and release individual drops by gently pressing the bulb. For even doses, hold the bottle vertically and avoid touching the skin with the tube to keep the contents clean.
Is the dropper suitable for water-based serums with a preservative?
Yes, water-based serums and tonics dispense just as well with the dropper as oils. Because the tube comes into contact with air and the palm at every use, the water-based contents must be properly preserved. The dropper itself does not provide protection against microbial contamination.
