Product description

Dropper with a glossy white ring dispenses liquid preparations precisely drop by drop and fits bottles and vials with an 18/415 neck. It is suitable for serums, facial and hair oils, blends of essential oils, tinctures or concentrated active ingredients. The glossy white ring looks clean and goes well with clear, white and dark glass, so it can be used on most bottles with the same type of neck.

What the dropper is made of

  • Glass pipette – draws up and dispenses the contents. The glass is chemically resistant, does not get stained by oils or alcohol extracts and does not alter the scent of the contents.
  • PP ring – a glossy white threaded cap that screws onto the bottle neck and holds the pipette in the correct position.
  • Silicone bulb – pressing it draws up the liquid and releasing it dispenses it. It is flexible and returns to its original shape after being pressed.

What the dropper is suitable for

The dropper is suitable for liquid and slightly viscous preparations that are dispensed drop by drop or in small amounts: facial serums with active ingredients, dry and facial oils, oil blends for hair and nails, blends of essential oils, herbal tinctures and alcohol extracts, oil bath elixirs. It is suitable wherever you need to measure out a few drops and where it makes sense for the contents not to come into contact with the hands.

It is not suitable for thick gels, creams or balms – the pipette will not draw them up or dispenses them unevenly. For such textures a pump or a jar is more suitable.

Store and carry the bottle with the dropper in an upright position. When laid on its side, the liquid gets into the bulb, where it stays in contact with the silicone longer, and it may drip when unscrewed.

How to choose the right dropper for the bottle

Two values are decisive: the thread type and the length of the glass pipette. The thread type must match exactly, including the second part of the designation – an 18/415 thread has the same diameter as 18/410, but a different height, so on the wrong neck it may not seat and seal properly. The length of the pipette should match the height of the bottle so that its end reaches just above the bottom. A pipette that is too short will not reach the remaining contents, one that is too long rests against the bottom and risks being damaged. You will find both values in the parameters of both the dropper and the bottle.

Bottles with the same type of neck and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the dropper with the specific formulation.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – store the dropper in a dry and clean environment until use. Before filling, wash it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Residual water could cause cloudiness in an anhydrous oil or serum.
  • Reuse – the glass pipette and the ring can be used again after thorough washing. We recommend replacing the bulb if it softens, loses its flexibility or has taken on the scent of the previous contents.
  • Essential oils and solvents – during normal use the contents mainly touch the glass, which is resistant to them. With concentrated essential oils and strongly alcoholic extracts we recommend testing how the bulb behaves with prolonged contact with your specific recipe.
  • Tightness during transport – the dropper is a dispensing closure, not a transport one. When shipping finished products we recommend checking the tightness and, if necessary, securing the bottle with shrink film.
  • Contact with cosmetics – the packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity can be found with the product.

The glass pipette is thin and can crack if dropped or if the ring is screwed on by force. Screw the dropper on by hand only, without tools, and replace it if you find a crack – shards of glass could get into the preparation.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the dropper with an 18/415 thread fit?
The dropper fits bottles and vials with a neck marked 18/415 – the thread type is listed in the parameters of each bottle. The designation must match in full, because an 18/410 neck has the same diameter but a different thread height, and the dropper may not seal properly on it. When choosing, also check the length of the glass pipette according to the height of the bottle.
Is the dropper suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, the dropper is commonly used for blends of essential oils, facial oils and alcohol extracts. When used correctly, the contents mainly touch the glass pipette, which is resistant to oils and alcohol. However, do not store the bottle on its side, so that concentrated contents do not get into the silicone bulb, and with strong concentrates test the behaviour of the bulb in practice.
Can the dropper be washed and reused?
Yes, the dropper can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Wash the pipette and the ring with warm water and a mild detergent, rinse, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let dry completely. If the bulb has lost its flexibility or retained the scent of the previous contents, replace it, otherwise it may affect the new preparation.
Why is the length of the glass pipette of the dropper important?
The length of the pipette determines whether the dropper reaches the contents all the way to the bottom of the bottle. A correctly chosen pipette reaches just above the bottom, so almost the entire volume is used up. A pipette that is too short leaves part of the preparation out of reach, one that is too long rests against the bottom and risks cracking. Choose the length according to the height of the specific bottle given in the parameters.
Why does the dropper not draw up thick gel or cream?
The dropper works on the principle of negative pressure in the bulb, which can only handle liquid or slightly viscous preparations. Thick gels, creams and balms will not be drawn up into the thin glass pipette or flow out of it unevenly, so the dispensing is not precise. For these textures a pump, tube or jar is more suitable; keep the dropper for serums, oils, tinctures and blends of essential oils.
