Product description
Dropper black-gold, 59 mm
Dropper with 18/410 thread turns an ordinary bottle with the same neck type into a container with precise drop-by-drop dispensing. It suits facial serums, facial and hair oils, concentrated active ingredients, tinctures or blends of essential oils in a carrier oil. In short, anything applied in small amounts where it matters that the contents are not unnecessarily spilled or contaminated. The black-gold finish pairs with both dark and clear bottles, giving the packaged product a cohesive look without any additional accessories.
The dropper is suitable for use with cosmetic products.
What it consists of and how it works
The dropper consists of a glass tube in contact with the contents, a flexible silicone bulb for drawing liquid, and an aluminium cap body with a plastic threaded section. Glass is chemically inert to cosmetic ingredients, so it does not affect the scent or composition of the contents. Squeezing the bulb draws a small amount of product into the tube, which is then released drop by drop. The volume of a single drop depends on the density and surface tension of the contents: drops tend to be larger with oils than with aqueous solutions.
How to choose the right dropper for a bottle
Two parameters matter: thread type and dropper length. The 18/410 thread must match the bottle neck; otherwise the dropper will not seat properly or will not seal. The length indicates how deep the glass tube reaches. A correctly chosen tube ends just above the bottom of the bottle so the last of the contents can be drawn up without the tube touching the base. Bottles with an 18/410 neck and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend testing the seal, dispensing behaviour, and compatibility of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Before ordering a larger quantity, compare the dropper length with the internal height of the bottle. A tube that is too short leaves an unreachable residue at the bottom; one that is too long rests against the base and prevents the dropper from seating on the thread.
When filling, bear in mind that the dropper tube will displace some of the volume. Bottles should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume up to the neck is greater, and the difference serves as a reserve for the dropper and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums and concentrates – drop-by-drop dispensing matches the recommended amount per application and limits contact of the contents with air and fingers.
- Facial, hair and massage oils – oils are released slowly and in a controlled manner, reducing waste with more expensive oils.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil and tinctures – the dropper allows measuring an exact number of drops into a bath, diffuser or another formulation.
- Aqueous and alcoholic solutions of active ingredients – the glass tube is suitable for both aqueous and alcoholic contents, which dispense just as comfortably as oils.
Good to know
Before first filling, we recommend washing the dropper, rinsing it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. In a damp tube, an aqueous formulation would be diluted and an anhydrous one would turn cloudy. The same applies to repeated use: the glass tube cleans well, and the bulb should be checked regularly to ensure it remains flexible and airtight.
The dropper is a dispensing closure, not a transport cap. Filled bottles should be transported upright and filled only to the nominal volume. For larger shipments, it is more reliable to use a solid cap and include the dropper separately.
Concentrated essential oils, pure solvents, and strongly acidic or alkaline solutions may affect the silicone bulb on prolonged contact. With such contents, we recommend testing the dropper's behaviour on a sample before using it across an entire production run.
The dropper is made up of several materials. Before disposal, separate the glass tube from the plastic and metal parts where possible and sort each component accordingly.
