Product description

Dropper white-gold, 50 mm

Dropper with a 18/410 neck finish seals the bottle and dispenses its contents drop by drop, giving you exactly as much as you need. It is especially suited for serums, facial oils, oil blends and tinctures — products applied in small amounts where dose control matters. The white and gold colours can be matched to the label and bottle colour without the cap drawing unwanted attention.

The dropper consists of a glass tube that draws up the contents, a silicone bulb for squeezing, an aluminium collar with an internal plastic thread, and plastic components that connect the individual parts.

Why choose a dropper

  • Controlled dispensing – the contents are applied drop by drop, which is more practical for serums and concentrated oils than pouring from the neck. The amount per application is easy to reproduce.
  • Reduced air contact – the bottle is opened only to take a dose and the contents are neither poured nor decanted, which helps with oils sensitive to oxidation.
  • Hygienic application – drops are applied directly to the skin or into the palm without reaching fingers into the container.
  • Glass tube – glass does not react with oils or alcohol-based extracts and leaves no odour or discolouration in the contents.
  • Appearance – the combination of white and gold suits both light and dark bottles and gives a finished, coordinated look.

Use and bottle selection

The dropper fits any bottle with an 18/410 neck finish. Besides the thread, the bottle height also matters: the tube length should match the bottle height so the dropper reaches nearly to the bottom, allowing the last traces of content to be drawn up. If the bottle is significantly taller, some content at the bottom will remain out of reach. If it is shorter, the tube will rest on the bottom and the dropper will not sit correctly on the neck. Bottles with the same neck finish and ready-made bottle + dropper combinations are available from Handymade. For a custom combination, we recommend testing the seal, dispensing and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Before the first fill, wash both the dropper and the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Traces of water in an oil serum can promote microbial growth.

Works best with liquid and slightly viscous contents: facial and hair oils, oil serums, aqueous and gel serums of lower viscosity, tinctures, alcohol and glycerin extracts, active ingredient concentrates. With thick gel serums or emulsions, the contents are drawn into the tube slowly and drops form with difficulty. For such preparations, a pump or jar is more suitable.

Good to know

The dropper is suitable for use with cosmetic products. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing with a single piece before filling a larger batch and checking the silicone bulb and plastic components after a few weeks. The glass tube handles such contents without problems; for the bulb and thread, resistance depends on the specific formulation.

When filling, leave headspace below the neck. The nominal volume of the bottle is the declared fill quantity; the total capacity is larger and extends to the rim of the neck. When the dropper is fitted, the tube pushes some of the contents upwards. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow through the thread and the dropper will not seal. Fill only to the nominal volume, not to the neck.

The dropper is not designed for transport without additional protection. Compression of the bulb in a bag or during a fall can cause the contents to leak. For customer shipments, we recommend wrapping the bottle with the dropper in film or a bag and storing it upright.

The dropper can be reused for the same type of contents. Before refilling, disassemble it, clean it and allow it to dry completely. A detailed procedure can be found in the questions below.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottle fits the 18/410 dropper?
The 18/410 dropper fits any bottle with the same neck finish, regardless of its material or colour. Besides the thread, the bottle height also needs to match the tube length so the dropper reaches nearly to the bottom and the full contents can be drawn up. The neck type of the bottle can be found in its specifications.
Is the dropper suitable for oil serums?
Yes, the dropper is suitable for oil serums and facial oils. The glass tube does not react with oils and drop-by-drop dispensing corresponds to the amount typically applied to the face. For oils with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend first checking the silicone bulb's resistance on a single piece before filling a larger batch.
Can the dropper be used for an aqueous serum or tincture?
Yes, the dropper works with aqueous serums, tinctures and alcohol-based extracts, provided they have a liquid or only slightly thick consistency. Thick gel serums are drawn into the tube slowly and drops form with difficulty. For such preparations, a pump is a better choice. Aqueous preparations in a dropper bottle must be properly preserved, as the container is opened with every use.
Why does the dropper not seal and the contents leak through the thread?
The most common cause is an overfilled bottle. When the dropper is fitted, the tube pushes some of the contents upwards, and if there is no headspace below the neck, the contents overflow through the thread. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, and before screwing on the dropper, check that the thread is clean and dry. If the problem persists, verify that the bottle height matches the tube length.
How is the dropper cleaned before reuse?
Disassemble the dropper, rinse the tube and bulb several times with warm water and a mild cleaning agent, then disinfect with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. For oily residues, it helps to rinse first with ethanol and then with water. Allow all parts to dry completely, otherwise water will get into the new contents. Reuse is recommended for the same type of preparation.
