Glass jar, dark brown, 100 ml is a wide-mouth glass container for creams, butters and thicker preparations that are scooped out with a finger or spatula. Dark brown glass reduces light transmission, helping to protect oxidation-sensitive contents, especially vegetable oils, butters and preparations with vitamins or essential oils. The 100 ml volume corresponds to standard packaging for a day or night cream, body butter, balm, mask or solid deodorant.

Glass is chemically neutral and also suitable for preparations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, which can cause some plastics to soften or lose shape over time. The wide mouth makes filling thick masses when hot and subsequent cleaning easier.

Why choose dark glass

• Light protection – brown glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents. Preparations with oils, butters and active ingredients sensitive to light will retain their scent and colour for longer.
• Chemical resistance – glass does not react with the contents, essential oils or solvents. It is therefore also suitable for anhydrous balms and oil-based creams with higher dosages of fragrance components.
• Wide mouth – makes filling thick creams and butters easier, allows scooping with a finger or spatula, and enables thorough washing before repeated use.
• Reusability – after washing and disinfection, the jar can be refilled. Glass does not age or absorb odours with normal use.

Nominal and total volume

The jar is filled to the nominal volume, i.e. the amount the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the rim is the physical volume up to the neck and is higher. The difference provides a margin for the closure with a sealing insert, for expansion of the contents with temperature changes, and for comfortable closing without pushing the contents onto the thread. A jar filled to the rim is difficult to close and the contents reach the neck, where they can damage both the label and the seal.

Use in production

Glass can withstand hot filling, but is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot mass into a jar taken directly from the refrigerator — use a container at room temperature. When filling solid balms and butters that are poured hot, let the contents solidify in the open jar and close it only after it has cooled, to prevent moisture from condensing under the lid.

Before the first fill, wash the jar, rinse it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely. The same applies to every subsequent reuse. Residual water in the container shortens the shelf life of water-based emulsions and causes cloudiness in anhydrous products.

• Face creams and night masks – 100 ml is a standard size for products scooped with a finger, and dark glass protects active ingredients from light.
• Body butters and balms – anhydrous preparations with a high proportion of butters and oils, where glass prevents fragrance components from migrating into the container material.
• Solid deodorants and ointments with essential oils – glass withstands even higher concentrations of fragrance substances.
• Sugar and salt scrubs – the wide mouth makes scooping easy. When using in the shower, however, consider the risk of breakage.

A cylindrical surface below the neck is suitable for labelling. Dimensions are listed in the parameters. Apply the label to a dry, degreased surface only after filling and closing, to avoid damage during handling with hot contents.

Glass is fully recyclable. Before disposal, simply rinse the jar and separate the lid.
