Product description

Dispenser, nasal spray, white, 18/410

The dispenser with 18/410 thread atomises thin contents in small, pre-set doses. One press releases 0.12 ml of product as a fine mist, making it ideal wherever precise dosing matters: for aqueous solutions, hydrolates and light tonics filled into small bottles. The narrow-nozzle design is familiar from nasal sprays, but the dispenser works with any thin cosmetic preparation that needs to be applied precisely and with minimal overspray.

The white actuator and threaded closure are complemented by a transparent cap that protects the nozzle from dust and accidental activation during transport. The PE dip tube can be shortened for smaller bottles.

What the dispenser is made of

The mechanism consists of several materials, each serving its own role in the dispenser:

  • POM nozzle – a hard plastic with a smooth surface that breaks the liquid stream into a mist.
  • Actuator, threaded closure and collar from PP – the structural parts by which the dispenser is pressed and screwed onto the bottle.
  • PS cap – transparent nozzle cover.
  • Pistons, seals, insert and dip tube from PE – the moving and sealing parts that draw up and measure the dose.
  • Two stainless steel springs – return the actuator to its starting position after each press.
  • Glass valve ball – closes off back-flow to prevent the contents from returning to the bottle and keep each dose consistent.

The dispenser is therefore not made from a single plastic; it combines plastics, steel and glass.

What it is suitable for

The dispenser is designed for aqueous and thin preparations: hydrolates, saline and mineral solutions, light tonics and water-based sprays with solubilised ingredients. Its main advantage is the precise dose. Each press delivers the same amount, which matters with preparations where the applied volume is important.

Thick preparations, oils and emulsions with higher viscosity are not reliably handled by this type of mechanism. With gel or oil-based contents, we recommend testing the dispenser's behaviour with the specific formulation, or choosing a dispenser designed for thicker products.

The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products.

The thicker the contents, the harder the dispenser is to prime and the coarser the mist will be. With high-viscosity contents or undissolved particles, there is a risk of nozzle clogging.

Preparation and filling

Before first use, we recommend rinsing the dispenser with clean water, flushing it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. After screwing it onto the filled bottle, press the actuator several times on empty until the mechanism is primed and begins to spray. The first presses should therefore not be counted as part of the dose.

If the tube is too long for the bottle, shorten it with a sharp knife so that it ends just above the bottom. An angled cut makes it easier to draw up the last of the contents. A tube that is too long will bend inside the bottle and cause the dispenser to draw in air.

Fit the dispenser onto bottles with an 18/410 neck. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal and the dispenser's behaviour with the specific formulation.

Good to know

  • The internal channels are narrow – filter the contents before filling to remove any particles of plant material or undissolved salts.
  • Ethanol and essential oils – with preparations containing a higher proportion of alcohol or undiluted essential oils, we recommend checking the compatibility of the plastic and sealing parts in the finished formulation beforehand.
  • Repeated use – the dispenser can be reused, but must be thoroughly rinsed with water, flushed with alcohol and left to dry. Residues of the previous contents are difficult to remove from the mechanism, so when changing the preparation it is preferable to use a new unit.
  • Always fit the cap – it protects the nozzle from residue drying out and causing a blockage.
  • Storing unused units – in a dry and clean environment, preferably in the original packaging.

Frequently asked questions

What bottles does the 18/410 nasal spray dispenser fit?
The dispenser fits bottles with an 18/410 neck, meaning an external thread diameter of 18 mm. This neck size is standard for common small glass and plastic bottles. On bottles with a different neck type the dispenser may not seal properly, so always check the neck type in the bottle's specifications.
How much liquid does one press of the dispenser release?
One full press releases 0.12 ml of contents. The dose is measured by the piston and glass ball mechanism, so with thin aqueous preparations it remains consistent with each press. With thicker contents the dose may be smaller or irregular.
Why does the dispenser not spray after fitting?
The mechanism is empty after fitting and must first be primed with the contents. Press the actuator several times in succession until the tube and chamber fill and the nozzle begins to spray. If it still does not spray, check that the tube reaches the contents and is not bent against the bottom of the bottle.
Can the dispenser be used with an oil-based preparation?
The dispenser is designed for aqueous and thin solutions, not for oils. Oily contents are difficult to draw up, the nozzle cannot break them into a mist, and the output is more like a stream of droplets. For light oils we recommend testing the behaviour on one unit; for thicker oils, choose a different type of dispenser.
How do you clean the dispenser before reuse?
Rinse the dispenser with clean water: submerge the tube in water and pump several times, then do the same with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow all parts to dry. Clean the nozzle and cap separately. With contents that leave deposits in the mechanism, using a new dispenser is the more reliable option.
