Product description
The amber glass bottle with a capacity of 30 ml is designed for contents that light gradually degrades – facial serums, facial and hair oils, essential oil blends, tinctures, and concentrated active ingredients. Amber glass reduces light transmission, and the narrow neck with an 18/410 thread allows precise dispensing with a dropper, pump, or spray. The volume corresponds to the standard size of a serum or oil treatment that a customer uses up before the contents have time to change.
The bottle is of European manufacture, suitable for use with cosmetic products, and at the same time approved for direct food contact. It is therefore also suitable for homemade herbal oils, syrups, infusions, and concentrates. Declaration of conformity and certificates are available with the product. The packaging contains 143 pieces, making it intended for producing a larger batch or as a stock for regular filling.
Why choose amber glass
- Light protection – the amber colour of the glass absorbs part of the visible and UV radiation, which slows down the oxidation of oils and the degradation of sensitive active ingredients, such as vitamin C, retinol, or essential oils.
- Chemical resistance – glass does not react with the contents, does not release plasticisers, and does not absorb scent. It handles essential oils, alcohol-based tinctures, and solvents that could damage plastic packaging.
- Narrow neck 18/410 – the neck size is compatible with standard droppers, pumps, and mechanical sprayers, so the contents can be dispensed drop by drop or in small doses.
- Reusability – glass can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection, which you will appreciate when testing formulations or for your own home production.
Nominal and total volume
When filling, it is important to distinguish between two volumes. The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for during normal filling, and this is the figure stated on the product label. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for a dropper or pump, which when screwed on pushes some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents will be pushed out when fitting the closure, or the closure will seal less effectively.
For oils and alcohol-based mixtures, which expand more noticeably with temperature, always leave the reserve in the upper part of the bottle free. With a dropper, also account for the volume of the glass tube that will be submerged in the contents.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums and oil serums – light-sensitive active ingredients in a volume for several weeks of use.
- Facial, hair, and massage oils – vegetable oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids that yellow quickly in light.
- Essential oil blends and aromatic drops – plastic would be damaged over time by concentrated essential oils, glass remains stable.
- Tinctures, alcohol-based extracts, and concentrates – glass does not react with alcohol or solvents.
- Food-grade concentrates – herbal oils, syrups, infusions, and homemade essences in small volumes.
The bottle is also suitable for water-based tonics with a spray, but at this volume it is more of a travel or sample size.
Closures and combinations
The bottle is compatible with closures of the same neck type as stated in the specifications – droppers, pumps, mechanical sprayers, and plain caps. Ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range as individual products. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing in advance with a specific formulation, especially with thicker oils and blends containing essential oils, which may affect the rubber parts of a dropper.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. New bottles may contain dust from manufacturing and transport. Before filling, wash them with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual moisture in an oil product promotes the growth of microorganisms and shortens its shelf life.
Glass and heat. The bottle can handle filling with warm contents, but not a sudden shift between hot and cold. When filling with a heated oil phase, let the contents cool first to a temperature that will not damage the active ingredients, and do not place the filled bottles in a cold environment immediately after filling.
Labelling. The cylindrical shape with a flat wall makes it easy to apply a label without creases.
Recycling. The bottle is made from amber glass, which goes into coloured glass collection and is fully recyclable.
Glass is fragile and will break if dropped on a hard surface. For a larger batch, think about suitable transport packaging with dividers so that the bottles do not damage each other during transit.
