Product description

The brown 100 ml PET bottle with a black pump sprayer is a ready-made complete packaging and closure set for tonics, sprays, and cleaning solutions. The brown tinting of the bottle reduces light exposure to the contents, which is appreciated with preparations containing plant extracts, hydrolats, or essential oils that lose their fragrance and efficacy more quickly in light. PET is lightweight and break-resistant, making it suitable for packaging carried in a handbag or stored in a bathroom or workshop.

The pump sprayer is designed for a larger dose than a fine mist sprayer. It is therefore suitable for facial and hair tonics, refreshing sprays, textile and home fragrances, household stain removers, or cleaning and disinfecting solutions applied over a larger surface area. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

How the set works

  • Dosage – one pump press releases approximately 0.2 ml of content. This is an indicative value for aqueous solutions; thicker liquids spray less effectively and the dose varies.
  • Spray pattern – the sprayer produces a wider stream rather than a fine mist. It is suitable where a surface or hair needs to be moistened evenly, not for delicate facial misting.
  • Content protection – brown PET transmits less light than clear plastic, so aqueous preparations with sensitive ingredients remain more stable in it.
  • Practical size – the 100 ml volume is suitable for samples, travel packaging, and smaller batches when selling your own cosmetics.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling, and this is the figure stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them is the allowance for the sprayer dip tube, which pushes some content upward when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise it will overflow when closing.

What is worth knowing

Before the first filling, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube or in the body of the sprayer shortens the shelf life of the preserved preparation.

The sprayer dip tube is supplied longer than required for this bottle. Before first use, trim it so that its end reaches just above the bottom of the bottle. A tube that is too long will bend inside the packaging and the sprayer will draw in air.

PET handles aqueous solutions, hydrolats, diluted alcohol, and common cosmetic emulsions well. Undiluted essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions, and solvents can gradually degrade or cloud the plastic. With your own formulation containing a higher proportion of fragrance ingredients, we recommend testing the behaviour of the packaging on a single unit over several weeks. It is also advisable to check the tightness and functionality of the sprayer with a specific formulation, especially with contents containing fine particles or thickeners that may clog the nozzle.

The bottle is intended for repeated use. Once empty, simply rinse it, disinfect it again, and allow it to dry. After each change of contents, flush the sprayer with several pumps of clean water to prevent residue from the previous preparation remaining in the nozzle.

If you need a different closure, select by the neck type stated in the parameters. Closures with the same thread and ready-made packaging + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dosage.

The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of PP. When recycling, both parts are separated and sorted as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does a brown PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown tinting of PET significantly reduces light exposure to the contents compared to clear plastic. For tonics, hydrolats, and sprays containing plant extracts or essential oils, it is a more suitable choice than a clear bottle. However, it does not provide complete light impermeability and will not protect the contents from direct sunlight on its own.
How much liquid does the pump sprayer release per press?
One press of the pump releases approximately 0.2 ml, which is an indicative dose for aqueous solutions. With thicker liquids the dose decreases and the spray becomes uneven. Compared to a fine mist sprayer, this delivers a larger dose and a wider stream, suited to hair, fabric, or larger surfaces rather than delicate facial misting.
Can I fill the PET bottle with sprayer with an alcohol-based or oil-based content?
Diluted alcohol and aqueous solutions yes; pure oils and concentrated essential oils should be tested first. PET handles standard cosmetic formulations, including preparations containing ethanol. Undiluted essential oils and solvents can degrade the plastic over time. Pure oils are also poorly sprayed by a pump sprayer, as the mechanism is designed for thin liquids.
How do I prepare the bottle and sprayer before the first filling?
Wash both parts, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow them to dry completely. Before first use, trim the sprayer dip tube so that it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle. Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim, so that after screwing on the sprayer there is a reserve for the dip tube and content expansion.
Can the bottle with pump sprayer be used repeatedly?
Yes, the set is designed for repeated filling. After emptying, rinse the bottle, disinfect it, and allow it to dry. Flush the sprayer with several pumps of clean water to remove any residue from the previous preparation from the nozzle and dip tube. When switching to a different formulation, we recommend checking that the nozzle is not clogged and that the closure seals properly.
