Product description
A brown plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml is a packaging solution for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products where low weight and break resistance matter. It is made from PET, making it suitable for the bathroom, travel, and shipping, where glass would be unnecessarily heavy and fragile. The brown colouring reduces light transmission, which is beneficial for formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts, hydrosols, or fragrance components sensitive to light.
The bottle has a neck with a 24/410 thread. Depending on the chosen closure, the contents can be poured, pumped, or sprayed. The material is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of suitability can be found in the product parameters.
Suitable product types
- Aqueous preparations – toners, facial waters, hydrosols, and micellar waters.
- Rinse-off cosmetics – shampoos, shower gels, and liquid soaps in travel or trial sizes.
- Light emulsions – body milks and thinner conditioners that flow easily through the narrow neck.
- Oil blends – massage, body, and hair oils, where the dark packaging slows light-induced degradation.
Thick creams and butters are difficult to fill and dispense through a narrow neck; a jar is more suitable for those.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under standard filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the closure, the pump dip tube or sprayer, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling may cause leakage when closing or prevent a proper seal. Exact values are listed in the product parameters.
When filling by weight, first determine how many grams of your specific product correspond to the nominal volume. Oils are lighter than water; thick gels are typically heavier.
What to know before filling
Before first use, wash the bottle, rinse it, and sanitise it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then allow it to dry completely. Residual water inside the bottle increases the risk of microbial contamination, especially in products containing a water phase.
PET does not tolerate high temperatures. The bottle must not be boiled or sterilised in an oven, and a hot product may deform it. Always fill the contents after they have cooled down.
PET is compatible with common cosmetic formulations, including aqueous, oil-based, and alcohol-based products. Aggressive chemicals and strong solvents such as acetone may damage the plastic. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or fragrance compounds, we recommend verifying compatibility on a sample over several weeks.
Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. Labels adhere to a dry, degreased surface; the dimensions required for label design are listed in the product parameters. Empty bottles belong in sorted plastic waste.
