Product description
A plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 500 ml and a neck with a 28/410 thread is designed for products used daily and in larger amounts: shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, conditioners, liquid soaps, massage and bath oils, or household cleaning products. The 28/410 thread is one of the most common sizes for dispensing closures, so finding a pump, spray, or cap to fit the bottle is straightforward. The transparent walls show the colour, consistency, and how much product remains. The plastic is lightweight and break-resistant, which is appreciated in the shower, at market stalls, and when shipping parcels.
The packaging is suitable for direct contact with food under normal conditions of use, making it also appropriate for home oils, syrups, vinegars, or herbal infusions. Suitability for use with cosmetic products is supported by technical documentation; the declaration is available in the product parameters.
Why choose this bottle
- Transparent walls – the customer can see the colour and texture of the product, and the manufacturer can immediately spot any phase separation or sediment. Well suited for gels, lotions, and oils where the appearance of the contents is part of the appeal.
- Rounded shape without edges – the bottle sits comfortably in a wet hand, has no corners where product can collect, and is easy to rinse.
- 500 ml volume – suitable for family-size and value packs, salon use, or products that are used up quickly.
- 28/410 neck – a size with a wide choice of dispensing closures, so the same bottle can be used across multiple product types.
- Low weight – reduces shipping costs and, compared to glass, eliminates the risk of breakage on impact.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference provides a reserve for the part of the closure that extends inside (such as the dip tube of a pump or spray), for the air cushion when closing, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Exact values for both volumes are listed in the parameters.
Closures and combinations
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters fit this bottle. Individual closures as well as ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend checking seal integrity and dispensing with the specific formulation, particularly for thicker gels and oils where the type of dispenser matters.
Preparation before filling
Before first use, wash the bottle with warm water and a small amount of detergent, rinse thoroughly, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water would dilute the product and unnecessarily burden the preservation system in leave-on products.
Fill with the finished, cooled formulation. For emulsions and gels, wait until air bubbles released during mixing have dissipated; otherwise, visible foam will appear under the neck in the transparent bottle and it will look underfilled.
The plastic bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents. A warm product can deform the walls, and the bottle may contract inward once cooled. Allow the formulation to cool to room temperature.
Good to know
- Light – transparent plastic does not protect the contents from light. Products with sensitive ingredients (unrefined oils, essential oils, vitamins, natural colorants) should be stored away from direct sunlight, or a dark container should be chosen instead.
- Essential oils and solvents – with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, carry out a compatibility test in a single bottle before filling the entire batch.
- Labelling – the rounded shape means the label wraps around the circumference. Choose a size based on the data in the parameters and test one piece before printing a larger run to ensure the label lies flat on the curve.
- Reuse – when changing the contents (for example from an oil to a water-based product), thorough degreasing is essential; otherwise, the new fill will turn cloudy.
- Recycling – once the product is used up, rinse the bottle and place it in the plastic recycling stream; separate any closure made of a different material.
