Plastic bottle, clear round, 28/410, 750 ml

Clear plastic bottle with a capacity of 750 ml, a rounded body and a 28/410 neck, designed for filling larger quantities of liquid and semi-liquid products. It is particularly suited to products that are consumed quickly and in larger amounts: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, liquid soaps, massage oils or household cleaning products. The transparent wall shows the colour and consistency of the contents, so the bottle also serves as a product display while making it easy to see how much is left.

Plastic is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the bottle a practical choice for the bathroom, the workshop and for transport. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is also suitable for direct contact with food, making it appropriate for home-made syrups, oils, vinegars or herbal extracts.

Filling and volume headspace

When filling, it is important to distinguish between the nominal volume and the total brim-full capacity. The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume is the physical space up to the neck. The difference between them provides headspace for the closure, pump or sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Choosing a closure

Closures with the same 28/410 neck type and ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal, the behaviour of the dispenser with the specific product viscosity, and how the packaging responds to squeezing, as the plastic wall has some flexibility.

What to know

Preparation before first filling. We recommend rinsing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely. Residual water could promote microbial growth in a product without adequate preservation.

Transparency and light. Clear plastic does not filter light, so the bottle is best suited to products that are not light-sensitive, or to those stored in a cupboard or away from direct sunlight. For products with a high proportion of vegetable oils, essential oils or light-sensitive active ingredients, dark glass or opaque plastic is more appropriate.

Plastic and aggressive contents. High concentrations of essential oils, solvents and alcohol-based preparations can stress the plastic over time, cause it to become hazy or alter its flexibility. For such contents, we recommend testing a sample in the bottle and monitoring it for several weeks. For standard aqueous gel, surfactant and emulsion products, there are no usage restrictions.

Filling temperature. Plastic bottles should only be filled once the product has cooled down. Hot product can deform the wall and cause the bottle to collapse inward as the contents cool.

Labelling. The rounded body accommodates a label around the full circumference; the bottle height and diameter are listed in the specifications. Degrease the surface before applying the label to ensure it adheres even in the humid environment of a bathroom.

Reuse and recycling. The bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. At the end of its service life it should be placed in sorted plastic waste.
