Product description

Returning the final version of the text.

The bottle is designed for filling liquid and semi-liquid preparations in small quantities: samples, travel-size formats and concentrates dispensed by drops. The amber tint reduces light exposure to the contents, which is useful for ingredients that lose stability in light. Made from PET, it is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for products customers carry with them.

The small volume is particularly suitable for serums, facial and nail oils, perfume oils, tinctures and concentrates, or for test batches of formulations. The dropper bottle shape with a narrow neck allows controlled dispensing and easy closure with matching neck closures. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and also holds a certification for direct food contact, making it suitable for homemade herbal extracts, oils or syrups in small quantities.

Key features

  • Light protection – the amber tint reduces the amount of light reaching the contents. This helps with vegetable oils, fragrance blends and light-sensitive active ingredients, but does not replace storing the product away from direct sunlight.
  • Low weight and shatter resistance – PET does not crack on impact the way glass does, which is practical when shipping samples and for travel products.
  • Small volume for samples and trials – sufficient for a test batch of a formulation, a customer sample or a concentrated preparation dispensed by drops.
  • Standard neck – the bottle is compatible with various closures of the same neck type, from a plain cap to a dropper or atomiser.
  • Certified for cosmetics and food – the material meets requirements for contact with cosmetic products and direct food contact under normal conditions of use. The declaration of conformity is available on the product page.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the closure, dropper or atomiser and for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling to the neck risks overflow when fitting a dropper, and the closure may not tighten properly.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial and eye serums – samples or concentrated preparations where a small amount is dispensed and the contents benefit from light protection.
  • Oil blends and nail oils – vegetable oils containing unsaturated fatty acids, which oxidise more quickly when exposed to light.
  • Perfume oils and aromatherapy blends – fragrance ingredients diluted in a carrier oil, used with a suitable dropper closure for dispensing by drops.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – for contents with a higher alcohol content, we recommend testing the container's behaviour with the specific formulation.
  • Cream and emulsion samples – thinner textures that can be poured from the narrow neck or dispensed with a dropper.

Good to know

Before filling for the first time, we recommend washing and sanitising the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving it to dry completely. Residual water or alcohol in the container may affect anhydrous formulations and the preservation system.

PET is a plastic, so care should be taken with undiluted essential oils and aggressive solvents. Some concentrated essential oils may cloud or soften the plastic over time. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils, we recommend testing the container's behaviour with a single unit before filling in bulk. Diluted blends in a carrier oil are generally problem-free.

Do not fill the bottle with hot contents. PET deforms at elevated temperatures, so allow emulsions and balms to cool before filling.

When using the bottle with your own closure, check the seal of the filled container with the neck facing down and after a few days verify that the contents are not leaking and that the plastic has not changed. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range.

The bottle can be reused after thorough cleaning, especially for the same type of contents. When switching to a significantly different formulation, for example from oil-based to water-based, a new container is recommended, as oil residues are more difficult to remove from plastic than from glass. Label dimensions are available in the product parameters.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 10 ml amber PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber tint reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, helping to slow the oxidation of oils and the degradation of light-sensitive substances. It is not a complete barrier, so the filled bottle should be stored away from direct sunlight. For the most sensitive ingredients, it is sensible to combine a dark container with an antioxidant in the formulation.
Is the 10 ml PET dropper bottle suitable for essential oils?
For diluted essential oil blends in a carrier oil, yes; for undiluted essential oils, caution is advised. Concentrated essential oils may cloud or soften the plastic over time, depending on the specific oil and its proportion. For higher essential oil content, it is advisable to test the container's behaviour with a single unit or to choose glass instead.
How much can actually be filled into the 10 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume stated in the name, not to the brim. The total brim volume is slightly larger, and this difference serves as headspace for the dropper, closure and the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Filling to the brim risks overflow when fitting a dropper and makes it harder to tighten the closure.
Can the 10 ml amber PET bottle be used for food?
Yes, the packaging holds a certification for direct food contact under normal and anticipated conditions of use. It is therefore suitable for homemade herbal extracts, flavoured oils or syrups in small quantities. The declaration of conformity is available on the product page. The bottle should not be filled with hot contents, as PET deforms under heat.
How to prepare the 10 ml PET bottle before filling with cosmetics?
The bottle should be washed, sanitised with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowed to dry completely. Residual moisture or alcohol could interfere with anhydrous formulations and place a burden on the preservation system in water-based products. When reusing, it is recommended to fill with the same type of contents, as oil residues are more difficult to remove from plastic than from glass.
Which closure fits the 10 ml amber PET dropper bottle?
The bottle is compatible with closures of the same neck type, from a plain cap to a dropper or atomiser. Ready-made bottle + closure combinations and individual closures with this neck type are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal and dispensing behaviour with the specific formulation.
