The transparent plastic bottle with a 1 l capacity is designed for household cleaning products and other liquid preparations used in larger quantities. It is made of PET, a lightweight plastic that will not shatter on impact like glass. It is therefore comfortable to use in the bathroom or kitchen. The clear material shows the colour of the contents and how much product remains.

The material is also suitable for contact with cosmetics, so the bottle can be used not only for cleaners but also for bulk liquid cosmetics.

What the bottle is suitable for

Surface, window and bathroom cleaners – the litre volume lasts for extended use.
Dish soap and liquid laundry detergents – the lightweight bottle is easy to hold even when full.
Cosmetic refill stock – liquid soap, shower gel or shampoo used to refill smaller dispensing containers.
Working and stock solutions in a production facility – for example, a diluted surfactant base or demineralised water prepared for further use.

Nominal and total volume

Two figures are distinguished for packaging. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides a margin for the cap and its dip tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature change.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling causes the contents to spill through the neck when a spray head or pump is attached, and foaming products are harder to settle during filling.

Neck finish and closure selection

The neck type is listed in the product parameters. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available from Handymade. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dispensing performance with the specific formulation, particularly for thicker gels and products intended for spraying.

What to know before filling

Container preparation. Before first use, wash the bottle, rinse it thoroughly and sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Allow it to dry completely so that residual water does not dilute the contents.

Temperature. PET does not tolerate high temperatures. Fill with contents that have cooled to room temperature; hot liquid may deform the bottle.

The bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. With concentrated or strongly alkaline products and with solvents, first verify the container's behaviour on a small sample. Always label a filled bottle with the name of the contents and store it out of the reach of children.

Light. Clear plastic does not protect the contents from light. It is advisable to store a filled bottle in a cupboard rather than on a windowsill.

Label and recycling. Dimensions needed for label design are in the product parameters. An empty, rinsed bottle can be deposited in the sorted plastics collection.

No, hot contents may deform a PET bottle. Products should be allowed to cool to room temperature before filling. The same applies when cleaning the container: the bottle is washed with lukewarm water and sanitised with alcohol, not with boiling water or in a dishwasher.

Does a transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?

No, clear PET transmits light. The advantage is a visible fill level and content colour; the disadvantage is weaker protection for light-sensitive components such as dyes and fragrance materials. Such products should be stored in a closed cupboard away from direct sunlight, or a dark-material container should be chosen instead.

Can the plastic bottle for cleaning products be reused?

Yes, the bottle can be refilled repeatedly provided it is undamaged and thoroughly cleaned before each new fill. Rinse with lukewarm water, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry. If the type of contents changes, it is advisable to replace the label as well to prevent mixing up products.

Which closure fits the one-litre bottle for cleaning products?

Any closure with the same neck type as stated in the bottle's parameters is suitable. For thin cleaners intended for spraying, a trigger sprayer is used; for thicker products, a screw cap for pouring or a pump dispenser. With a sprayer or pump, check the dip tube length and the seal once fully tightened.
