Product description
The white 300 ml plastic bottle with a 24/410 neck is an opaque PET container for home cosmetics used in larger quantities: shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, conditioners, cleansing gels and liquid soaps. The white wall limits light exposure to the contents, which is valuable for formulations containing vegetable oils, extracts or vitamins that degrade more quickly in light. PET is lightweight and shatterproof, making the bottle suitable for the bathroom, shower and travel.
The bottle is supplied without a cap; choose the dispensing method based on the consistency of your product. The container is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and is also approved for direct food contact, making it suitable for home-made oils, syrups, herbal extracts and dressings.
Why choose a white PET bottle
- Light protection for the contents – the opaque white wall transmits significantly less light than clear plastic, so light-sensitive contents retain their scent and efficacy longer.
- Shatterproof and lightweight – PET withstands drops in the shower and luggage transport where glass would be a risk. The low weight of the container also reduces shipping costs when selling your own products.
- Neutral appearance – white looks clean and makes labels stand out clearly. It suits simple private-label designs as well as home production.
- Size for daily use – 300 ml is a common size for rinse-off products and body lotions that are used up quickly and do not need to sit on the shelf for months.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for when filled normally. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a headspace for the cap, the pump or spray tube, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling will cause some of the product to be pushed out when the cap is screwed on, or it will overflow at first opening.
When filling thick products such as creamy shampoos or body lotions, fill slowly and let the product settle at the neck so that no air pockets remain in the bottle. For foamy products, wait until the foam has subsided before topping up to the correct volume.
Choosing a cap
The bottle has a 24/410 neck thread. Caps with the same neck size and ready-made bottle-and-cap combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal, the smoothness of dispensing, and how the container behaves with the specific formulation — for example, whether a thick gel passes through the pump or whether a thin toner leaks when tilted. For caps with a dip tube, check that the tube reaches the bottom. If it is too long, cut it at an angle so it draws from the very bottom.
Good to know
- Preparation before first fill – the bottle is not sterile. Before use, rinse it, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely upside down. Residual water in the container shortens the shelf life of both preserved and unpreserved products.
- Reuse – PET can be washed and refilled as long as the wall is not deformed and the thread is undamaged. When changing the contents — for example, from an oil-based to a water-based product — degrease the container thoroughly so that residues do not mix.
- Essential oils and solvents – PET is resistant to common aqueous and oil-based cosmetic bases as well as hydroalcoholic tonics. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend a test fill and monitoring the container for several weeks. Aggressive chemicals should not be used with PET.
- Labelling – labels adhere well to the flat body of the bottle. Degrease the surface before application.
- Recycling – PET is a commonly recyclable plastic; empty, rinsed containers belong in plastic recycling.
PET is not suitable for hot filling. Allow an emulsion, shampoo or gel to cool to room temperature after production before filling, otherwise the wall may deform and the bottle will lose its shape. Do not store filled containers near a heat source or in direct sunlight.
