Plastic bottle 250 ml with a 24/410 neck is a lightweight, shatterproof container for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed by pump, sprayer or flip-top cap. • Protection of contents from light – white PET transmits less light than clear plastic, which slows down light-accelerated changes in colour and scent. It does not, however, replace an antioxidant in the formulation or storage away from sunlight.

What the bottle is suitable for

The white 250 ml bottle is best suited for products dispensed repeatedly and in small amounts: shower gels and shampoos with a pump or flip-top cap, body lotions and conditioners with a pump, massage and body oils with a disc-top cap, liquid hand soaps, cleansing milks or micellar oils. Fitted with a mist sprayer, it also works for hair tonics, body sprays or refreshing mists.

Thanks to its food-contact approval, the bottle can also be used outside of cosmetics – for example for home-made oils, syrups, herbal extracts or liquid condiments.

Nominal and total volume

Every container has two distinct volumes. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed to be filled to under normal conditions – here 250 ml. The total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. This difference provides clearance for the dip tube of a pump or sprayer, for the closure, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Choosing a closure

The bottle is sold separately, without a closure. Closures with the same neck type as specified in the product parameters, and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend testing seal integrity, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation beforehand – a thick conditioner, for example, is difficult to dispense through a standard pump, while thin aqueous tonics tend to leak through a flip-top cap during transport.

Good to know

• Preparation before first filling – a new bottle is not sterile. Rinse it out, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely, neck down. Residual water in the container dilutes the preservation system and increases the risk of microbial contamination.
• Fill only when cooled – PET is not intended for hot filling. Fill emulsions, gels and oils only after they have cooled to room temperature; otherwise the walls may deform or the closure may not seat properly.
• Essential oils and solvents – standard cosmetic products with a typical share of essential oils, such as shampoos, gels or body oils, are generally compatible with PET. Concentrated essential oils, products with a high alcohol content or solvents may stress the plastic over time; for such contents we recommend glass or a brief compatibility test.
• Reuse – the bottle can be reused after thorough washing and sanitisation. When reusing, inspect the thread and neck for scratches; a damaged thread will no longer seal properly.
• Labelling – apply labels to a dry, degreased surface. The white background works well with both coloured and transparent labels.
• Recycling – the bottle is made from PET, one of the most widely recycled plastics. Empty and rinsed containers belong in the sorted plastics collection.
