Product description

The 24/410 plastic cap in matte white is a simple screw closure for bottles with a 24/410 neck finish. It provides a secure seal where dispensing is not required – the contents are poured or scooped directly from the bottle. It is particularly suitable for tonics, facial and body oils, micellar waters, liquid soaps and shampoos in refill bottles, as well as for technical liquids such as household cleaners or workshop solutions.

It is made from polypropylene (PP), which is lightweight, shatterproof when dropped, and resistant to common cosmetic ingredients. The matte white surface has a neutral appearance, fingerprints are less visible on it, and it coordinates with white, clear and coloured bottles. A single cap type allows you to unify the look of an entire product line.

What the cap is for

  • Closure without dispensing – simple opening and closing for contents that are poured into the palm, onto a cotton pad or into a measuring cup.
  • Refill and transport packaging – bottles of finished product before decanting into dispensers, raw material samples, intermediate products during production.
  • Cosmetic and technical grade – the same cap works for both cosmetic products and technical preparations, so there is no need to stock two types of closures.
  • Consistent line appearance – the matte white colour can be combined with bottles of various volumes and materials, provided they have the same neck type.

Bottle selection and compatibility

The cap fits bottles with a 24/410 neck finish. The first number indicates the neck diameter in millimetres; the second denotes the thread type – a single thread and standard neck height. Bottles with the same neck type as well as ready-made bottle and cap combinations are available from Handymade. The thread type is listed in the parameters for each container. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.

When filling the bottle, follow the nominal volume, not the brimful capacity. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them allows for the cap and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled right to the neck may overflow when the cap is screwed on, and the contents can reach the thread where they then stick or dry out.

Check the seal of the combination before filling an entire batch. Fill the bottle with water, close it with the cap tightened by hand, turn it upside down and leave it to stand for several hours. If no moisture appears on the thread, the combination holds even during normal transport.

Good to know

  • Material resistance – polypropylene withstands aqueous and oily contents, surfactants, alcoholic solutions and common cosmetic acids and bases at the concentrations used in formulations. With concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions and solvents, verify the cap's behaviour through extended contact with the contents, as some components may soften or discolour the plastic over time.
  • Preparation before first filling – the cap is supplied clean, not sterile. Before use, we recommend washing it, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing it to dry completely, so that neither water nor disinfectant residues get into the contents.
  • Tightening – tighten the cap firmly by hand, not with force. Over-tightening can deform the thread, which will worsen rather than improve the seal.
  • Reuse – the cap can be used multiple times if the thread is undamaged and the cap has been thoroughly washed. When changing the fragrance of the contents, it is better to use a new cap.
  • Contact with cosmetics – the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available with the product.
  • Recycling – the cap is made of polypropylene and should be placed in the sorted plastic waste collection after use.

The cap is not intended for products that require dispensing. For sprays, serums or lotions, choose a spray cap, dropper or pump with the same 24/410 neck type.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles does the 24/410 plastic cap fit?
The 24/410 plastic cap fits all bottles with a 24/410 neck finish, regardless of whether they are made of glass or plastic. What matters is the thread type stated in the bottle's parameters, not its volume or material. With bottles that have a different neck designation, the cap will either not seat properly or will not seal.
Is the 24/410 plastic cap suitable for oily and alcoholic contents?
Yes, the polypropylene 24/410 cap withstands oily and alcoholic contents, tonics with alcohol content and common cosmetic emulsions. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or fragrance compositions, we recommend verifying the cap's behaviour through extended contact, as some fragrance components may soften or discolour the plastic over time.
Can the 24/410 plastic cap be reused?
Yes, the 24/410 plastic cap can be reused as long as the thread is undamaged and the cap has been thoroughly washed and disinfected. Wash it with warm water and a cleaning agent, then wipe it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry. When changing the fragrance of the contents, a new cap is preferable, as the plastic may retain traces of the previous fragrance.
Is the 24/410 cap interchangeable with a 24/400 cap?
No, the 24/410 and 24/400 caps are not reliably interchangeable, even though they share the same neck diameter. They differ in neck and thread height, so a 24/410 cap on a 24/400 neck may not seat on the sealing surface and the combination may leak. Always choose a cap with exactly the same designation as stated in the bottle's parameters.
Is the 24/410 plastic cap suitable for both cosmetics and food?
The 24/410 plastic cap is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; food contact suitability is not declared for it. For household oils, syrups or herbal extracts, choose a container and closure for which food contact suitability is stated in the parameters. For cosmetics, cleaning agents and technical solutions, the cap is fully suitable.
