Product description

The 18 mm plastic cream dispenser is a pump that dispenses a small, consistent dose of product from the bottle with each press. It is suited for products applied in small amounts: serums, facial fluids, eye creams, and light emulsions, where a larger pump would dispense more than needed.

The product is not scooped out with fingers and the bottle remains closed, so less contamination reaches the formula compared to a jar. The dispenser is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What products is the dispenser suited for

The pump is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity contents that flow freely to the tube and can be drawn up:

  • Serums and gels – water-based and gel serums, hyaluronic gels, eye serums, where one to two pumps are enough for a single application.
  • Light creams and fluids – O/W emulsions with a more liquid consistency, facial milks, moisturising fluids.
  • Oil serums and facial oils – the pump measures out a small amount of oil and the bottle neck stays clean.
  • Liquid foundations and tinted creams – a small dose makes it easier to apply in sections.

This type of pump is not suitable for very thick creams, body butters, balms, or products containing solid particles (scrubs, clay suspensions). Particles can clog the mechanism.

Dosing and yield

Each press dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of product. This small dose is practical with concentrated products containing active ingredients, where the amount is easily adjusted by the number of pumps. A 30 ml bottle yields roughly 200 doses, which helps estimate how long the product will last.

On first use, the pump needs to be pressed several times without product coming out, until the tube and mechanism fill with product. Only then will it dispense a consistent dose.

Bottle selection and filling

The dispenser fits bottles with an 18/415 neck. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle and pump combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend checking the seal, dosing, and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

The tube can be adjusted to the height of the bottle. If it is too long, it is trimmed with sharp scissors, ideally with a diagonal cut, so the end does not suction onto the bottom and the pump draws out as much product as possible.

When filling, it is worth knowing the difference between the nominal and total volume of the bottle. Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling. Total volume is the physical capacity up to the rim of the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the pump mechanism with tube and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When the pump and tube are inserted, they displace some of the contents, and an overfilled bottle will overflow through the neck.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – the dispenser is rinsed and sanitised by pumping isopropyl alcohol or ethanol through it and left to dry completely. Any water residue in the mechanism would dilute the first doses and put pressure on the product's preservation.
  • Material resistance – the dispenser is made of polypropylene (PP), which tolerates standard cosmetic emulsions, gels, and both water-based and oil-based contents, including vegetable oils. With a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, it is advisable to prepare a test sample and verify the seal and smooth pump operation after a few weeks.
  • Air in the bottle – as product is dispensed, air enters the bottle to replace the withdrawn contents. This is not an airless system, so formulations sensitive to oxidation require a suitable antioxidant and packaging that protects against light.

Frequently asked questions

What bottle does the 18 mm plastic cream dispenser fit?
The dispenser fits bottles with an 18/415 neck. The neck type is listed in the specifications of each bottle, so it is easy to compare when selecting. The same neck diameter with a different thread type may not seal, so with a bottle from a different range it is recommended to test tightening and the seal before filling an entire batch.
How much product does the cream dispenser dispense per press?
The cream dispenser dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of product per press. This is a small dose suited to serums, eye creams, and concentrated fluids, where the amount is adjusted by the number of pumps. Before first use, the dispenser needs to be pressed several times without product coming out, after which it will dispense a consistent dose.
Is the cream dispenser suitable for thick creams and body butters?
No, this dispenser is not suitable for thick creams and body butters. The pump requires contents that flow freely to the tube; otherwise it draws in air and stops dispensing. Suitable products include serums, gels, facial milks, fluids, and lighter creams. Thick textures belong in a jar or an airless container.
Can the tube of the cream dispenser be shortened?
Yes, the tube of the cream dispenser can be trimmed to match the height of the bottle. It is cut with sharp scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom, ideally with a diagonal cut that prevents the end from suctioning onto the base. A tube that is too long bends inside the bottle; one that is too short leaves unused product at the bottom.
Can the cream dispenser be washed and reused?
The cream dispenser can be washed and reused for personal use with the same type of product; for products intended for sale, a new dispenser is recommended each time. It is cleaned by pumping warm soapy water through it, followed by clean water, and finally ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, then left to dry thoroughly. The mechanism cannot be disassembled, so traces of the previous product may remain inside.
