Product description
A plastic pump dispenser with a 24/410 neck thread is a pump designed for bottles with the same neck type. One press dispenses approximately 1 ml of content, making it suitable for liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels, conditioners, body lotions and lighter creams. The product is dispensed cleanly and evenly, without opening the bottle.
The white-gold finish combines a plastic body made of polypropylene with a gold aluminium element. The long dip tube is designed for taller bottles and can be trimmed to the required length for shorter ones.
What the dispenser is suitable for
- Liquid to medium-viscosity products – the pump is designed for contents it can draw up through the dip tube. Thick butters and balms cannot be drawn up; those belong in a jar.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents do not come into contact with hands or spill over the neck, which reduces the risk of contamination during use.
- Consistent dose – one press delivers approximately the same amount each time, making it easier to state a dosage recommendation on the label.
- Sink and shower products – a bottle with a pump can be operated with one hand and does not need to be lifted or turned upside down.
How to choose the bottle and adjust the dip tube
The dispenser fits bottles with the same neck type, which is listed in the specifications of both the bottle and the dispenser. Bottles with this neck and ready-made bottle-and-pump combinations are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend testing seal integrity, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
The dip tube should reach just above the bottom of the bottle. If it is too long, trim it with sharp scissors using a diagonal cut so the end does not suction against the bottom and the pump can draw out as much content as possible.
Trim the dip tube gradually and test it in the bottle after each cut. A tube that is too short will leave an unused residue of product at the bottom.
Good to know
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, meaning the volume it is designed for during standard filling. The total capacity to the brim is greater, and this difference serves as a buffer: the pump mechanism with its dip tube takes up part of the space and the contents can expand with temperature changes. A bottle filled to the neck would overflow when fitting the dispenser.
Before first use, it is recommended to rinse the dispenser and let it dry thoroughly. After fitting onto a filled bottle, the pump needs to be pressed several times with no output until the mechanism primes and starts dispensing. With thicker formulations, this takes longer.
Products with solid particles (scrubs with beads, salt or sugar, formulations with herbal powder) can clog the mechanism. Very thick or fast-setting mixtures can also dry out inside the pump.
The dispenser is suitable for contact with cosmetic products. With a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, it is advisable to test the pump's behaviour on a sample over several weeks. At end of life, the dispenser is sorted by material. Since it combines plastic with metal, it is worth reusing.
