Product description
A plastic dropper 28/410 turns an ordinary bottle into a container that dispenses its contents drop by drop. It inserts into the bottle neck and narrows the opening, so the contents do not flow freely. It is suitable wherever a product is used in small amounts and too much would pour out through the full neck: with facial and hair oils, tonics, hydrolates, liquid extracts, or fragrance blends.
It is made of polypropylene (PP) and is suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is intended for bottles with a 28/410 neck.
How a dropper works
The dropper is pressed into the neck of a filled bottle, where it holds by tight fitting. When the bottle is tilted or turned upside down, the contents come out through the small opening drop by drop. The bottle is then closed with a cap of the same neck type.
- Economical dispensing – contents are dispensed drop by drop, making it easy to measure out a small amount.
- Lower risk of spilling – if an open bottle tips over, the contents do not pour out all at once through the full neck.
- Cleaner neck – contents do not run down the thread and the bottle stays less greasy.
- Discreet appearance – clear plastic does not interfere with the look of either clear or coloured bottles.
For which products it is suitable
The dropper is suitable for thin, free-flowing contents: vegetable oils and their blends, facial and hair oils, tonics, hydrolates, glycerin and alcohol extracts. The drop size and dispensing speed depend on the viscosity of the contents. Oil drips more slowly than an aqueous solution, and thicker liquids may flow only very slowly.
For gels, body lotions, shampoos and other thick products the dropper is not practical. A flip top, disc top or pump will serve better for these.
Before filling an entire batch, we recommend testing one bottle with the finished product. This verifies how quickly the contents drip, whether the dropper sits firmly in the neck, and whether the bottle seals properly once closed with the cap.
Good to know
Preparation before first use. The dropper is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely.
Filling the bottle. The bottle is filled before the dropper is fitted, up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume right up to the neck. The difference between the two is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up space in the neck, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the dropper is pressed in, and the contents will reach the thread. Fill only up to the nominal volume stated in the bottle's specifications.
Selecting a bottle and cap. Bottles and caps with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range.
Recycling. Once it has served its purpose, polypropylene belongs in sorted plastic waste collection.
