Plastic dropper for glass vials, 18 mm, short

A plastic dropper insert for glass bottles with an 18 mm neck is a small insert that slides into the bottle neck and turns it into a dispensing closure. The contents are then not poured out but released drop by drop, enabling precise and clean dosing of serums, facial oils, tinctures and concentrated blends. This is the short version, which extends less into the bottle neck than the longer variant.

The closure is intended for use with cosmetic products and complies with the relevant legislative requirements. A declaration of conformity is available with the product.

How the dropper works

The insert is pressed into the neck of the filled bottle until it sits flush, so it holds firmly and cannot be easily pulled out. The bottle is then closed with a standard 18/410 screw cap. In use, the bottle is tilted or turned upside down and the contents flow out through the narrow opening drop by drop. The dripping rate depends on the viscosity of the contents: thin oils and aqueous solutions drip faster, thicker serums more slowly.

The dropper also limits contact of the contents with air and prevents accidental spilling when an open bottle is knocked over.

Suitable applications

• Facial serums and oil blends – drop-by-drop dispensing prevents overdosing of expensive active ingredients and keeps the bottle neck clean.
• Tinctures and alcoholic extracts – water-alcohol contents drip evenly and do not run down the side of the bottle.
• Concentrates for home formulation – essential oil blends, fragrance compositions or active ingredients added to a formula in small quantities.
• Samples and test packaging – a simple alternative to a glass dropper for small volumes.

The dropper is not suitable for thick emulsions and creams; the contents will not pass through the opening.

Good to know

The dropper is made of polypropylene and is transparent, so it does not alter the appearance of the contents or the colour of the bottle. Polypropylene is compatible with common cosmetic oils, aqueous solutions and alcohol. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying in advance that the insert does not change shape after prolonged contact and that it still seals properly.

Before first use, we recommend washing and sanitising both the dropper and the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Moisture inside the closure would reduce the stability of the finished product.

The dropper can be removed from the bottle and reused after washing; however, it may become slightly deformed when pulled out. When selling finished products, it is therefore advisable to use a new insert for each new fill.

The insert does not replace a cap. The bottle must always be closed with a cap; otherwise the contents slowly drip from the dropper opening and evaporate. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with your specific formulation.

After use, the dropper can be recycled as plastic; simply separate it from the glass before disposal.
