Product description
Plastic spray pump 18 mm, black – fine dispensing of liquid products
The plastic spray pump with a black threaded cap is a dispensing closure for bottles and small bottles with a neck diameter of 18 mm. It disperses the liquid contents into a fine mist, so the product is applied evenly, in a thin layer and without the hands touching the contents. It is particularly suited to facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair sprays and water-alcohol blends in smaller volumes, where precise and hygienic dispensing matters.
The pack contains 100 pieces, which matches the needs of small-batch production as well as the regular replenishment of packaging when selling your own cosmetics. The black cap goes well with clear, amber, blue and frosted glass and with plastic bottles in common colours.
Key features
- Fine misting – the contents come out as a mist, not a stream, which is essential with toners and mists for even coverage of the skin or hair.
- Hygienic dispensing – the product does not touch the fingers and no dirt or bathroom water gets into the bottle, which reduces the demands on preservation.
- 18 mm thread – the spray pump fits bottles with the same type of neck as stated in the parameters; it is a widespread format from small travel packs to medium-sized bottles.
- 115 mm dip tube – it reaches the bottom of common bottles, and with a lower bottle it can be shortened.
- Lightweight plastic – the cap does not add to the weight of the pack and does not break when dropped.
How to work with the spray pump
The spray pump is screwed onto a filled bottle with an 18 mm neck and tightened by hand so that the seal in the cap seats against the edge of the neck. Before first use, the head needs to be pressed several times until the tube and the mechanism fill with the contents and a continuous mist starts to come out. This step is normal with every new spray pump and is not a sign of a fault.
When filling the bottle, leave a reserve below the neck, because the tube and the lower part of the mechanism take up part of the volume. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow once the spray pump is fitted.
If the dip tube is too long for the chosen bottle, cut it with a sharp knife or scissors at an angle so that the end reaches just to the bottom without resting against it. The angled cut prevents the tube from being „suctioned“ to the bottom and ceasing to draw.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial toners and hydrosols – the spray pump disperses watery and thin blends best; this is its main use.
- Refreshing and setting mists – even application of a thin layer onto the face or onto finished make-up.
- Hair sprays and lotions – including thin leave-in hair preparations.
- Water-alcohol blends – for example refreshers or solutions with a lower proportion of essential oils; we recommend verifying the suitability of the plastic for the specific blend.
- Home and textile sprays – thin aqueous solutions with a small amount of solubilized fragrance.
The spray pump is not intended for thick products, emulsions with higher viscosity, gels or blends with undissolved particles. The mechanism cannot draw in and disperse thick contents, or it may clog the nozzle.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. The spray pump is supplied as technical packaging, not in sterile packaging. Before use we recommend rinsing it with distilled or boiled water, or with an alcohol solution, and letting it dry completely. Water residues in the mechanism would dilute the first doses of the product.
Oils and oil blends. Pure oils and oil serums do not disperse into a mist from a common spray pump the way aqueous solutions do; the behaviour depends on the viscosity of the specific oil. If you plan to fill an oil product, test one piece before ordering a larger quantity of bottles.
Contents with essential oils and solvents. Plastic parts may soften, become discoloured or change their tightness with prolonged contact with a high proportion of essential oils, pure alcohol or solvents. With such formulations, monitor the packaging during the stability test.
Repeated use. After thorough rinsing the spray pump can be used again, ideally for the same type of product. Residues of fragrance and colourant are not completely removed from inside the mechanism, so it is not suitable to alternate markedly different contents.
Test the tightness of the spray pump with the chosen bottle in advance, especially if you will be shipping finished products. During transport lying down the contents may leak, so transport bottles with a spray pump upright.
Choosing a bottle. The spray pump fits bottles and small bottles with the same type of neck as stated in the parameters. You will find bottles with this neck and ready-made bottle + spray pump combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, verify the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
