Product description

Precise dosing right at the bottle: the plastic measuring cup 28/410 fits over a child-resistant cap and measures out 2 – 15 ml of dishwasher gel, liquid laundry detergent, dilution concentrate, syrup or herbal extract without guessing. The measuring cup also covers the cap itself, so the bottle looks compact and the dosing tool is always at hand.

The measuring cup is made from clear polypropylene, which allows you to see the liquid level and makes measuring to the graduation line easy. The material is lightweight, break-resistant and withstands regular washing with warm water, so the cup can be used repeatedly.

What the measuring cup is suitable for

  • Dosing household cleaning products – dishwasher gel, liquid laundry detergent or floor cleaner is measured to the line, not by guessing, which saves product and improves results.
  • Diluting concentrates – for concentrated cleaning or care preparations, the measuring cup is a practical way to follow the dilution ratio stated on the label.
  • Food use – the measuring cup is suitable for direct food contact, so it is also ideal for measuring syrups, homemade oils, vinegars or herbal extracts.
  • Liquid cosmetic preparations – for example concentrated bath additives or liquid soap bases, where the measured amount matters.

Use with a child-resistant cap

The measuring cup is designed to fit over a child-resistant cap with a 28/410 thread. The cap protects the contents from children and the measuring cup on top forms an outer cover. When dispensing, the cup is removed, the required amount is poured into it, and after use it is rinsed and placed back. The measuring cup does not close or seal the bottle itself – that function is performed by the cap beneath it.

In the Handymade range you will find child-resistant caps with the same neck type as well as ready-made combinations of bottle + cap + measuring cup. With your own combination, we recommend checking that the measuring cup seats firmly on the chosen cap and how it behaves with your specific product.

Before first use, wash the measuring cup with warm water and a small amount of detergent, or disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to air dry. The measuring cup is then ready for dispensing both food and cosmetic products.

Measuring range and filling

The measuring cup scale covers a range of 2 – 15 ml. This is the range for which the cup is intended for normal dosing, not the total capacity of the vessel to the brim. Always measure to the graduation line, not by filling to the rim – when tilted, some of the contents would spill and the dose would be imprecise. For thicker products such as gels, wait for the level to settle before reading the value.

Good to know

  • Repeated use – rinse the measuring cup after each use so that product residues do not dry on the graduation line and make reading difficult.
  • Transparency and readability – the clear material shows the level; coloured products are even easier to read. For colourless liquids, measuring in good light or against a dark background helps.
  • Material resistance – polypropylene resists common cleaning agents, acids and bases at household concentrations. With concentrated essential oils, solvents or prolonged contact with oily preparations, we recommend verifying the material's behaviour and washing the cup thoroughly after use.
  • Heat – the measuring cup is not intended for hot liquids or heating. Do not place it near a hob or hot cooking vessels.
  • Recycling – this is single-material polypropylene, which is sorted as plastic.

The measuring cup is a dosing tool, not a storage container. Do not store product in it and return it to the cap after dosing so it stays clean and protected from dust.

Frequently asked questions

Which cap does the plastic measuring cup 28/410 fit on?
The plastic measuring cup 28/410 is designed for a child-resistant cap with a 28/410 thread. It fits over the top of the cap and forms its outer cover, always at hand after use. It does not seal the bottle – that is done by the cap underneath. With a different neck type or cap shape, we recommend checking compatibility.
Is the plastic measuring cup 2 – 15 ml suitable for food?
Yes, the plastic measuring cup 2 – 15 ml is suitable for direct food contact under normal conditions of use. It can be used to measure syrups, homemade oils, vinegars or herbal extracts. It is equally suitable for cosmetic and cleaning preparations. When alternating between food and non-food use, we recommend having a separate cup for each purpose.
Can the plastic measuring cup 28/410 be used repeatedly and how do you clean it?
Yes, the plastic measuring cup 28/410 is intended for repeated use. After each dispensing, rinsing with warm water is enough; for greasier or sticky products, add a drop of detergent. Before first use or when changing the product, you can disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to dry. Hot water and heating are not suitable.
Is the plastic measuring cup suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based preparations?
For brief dispensing of commonly diluted alcohol-based preparations, the plastic measuring cup is suitable. Polypropylene resists alcohol, water and most household cleaning ingredients. With concentrated essential oils, solvents and prolonged contact with oily blends, we recommend verifying the material's behaviour first, as some components may cloud the plastic over time. Always wash the cup thoroughly after use.
Why is the plastic measuring cup 28/410 filled to the graduation line and not to the rim?
The plastic measuring cup 28/410 is filled to the graduation line because the 2 – 15 ml scale indicates the dosing range, not the total capacity of the vessel. Filling to the line ensures a precise dose and prevents the contents from spilling over the rim when tilted. Read the value at eye level; for thicker products, wait until the level has settled.
