Product description
Plastic pump dispenser, white 24/410
A white plastic pump with a dip tube screws onto a bottle with a 24/410 neck and turns it into a dispenser. Each press releases approximately the same dose, so there is no need to open, tilt or guess the amount. Suitable for liquid and medium-viscosity products that are used repeatedly and should remain hygienically clean: liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, light facial emulsions and cleansing gels.
The pump is made of polypropylene (PP), which is lightweight and shatter-resistant. It is suitable for contact with cosmetic products as well as for direct food contact, making it useful for homemade syrups, oils, honey blends and liquid condiments. The declaration of conformity is available in the product parameters.
Key benefits
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are not poured out and no hands enter the container, which reduces the risk of contamination during everyday use in the bathroom or kitchen.
- Measured dose – one press releases approximately 1 ml, making precise use of more concentrated products, such as shampoos or liquid soaps, easier.
- One-handed operation – the bottle stays in place and is dispensed by pressing the head. Suitable for the washbasin, the shower and the workshop during production.
- Clean white finish – the neutral look pairs with clear, white and coloured bottles, letting the label stand out.
- Easy sorting – polypropylene is sorted as plastic after thorough rinsing.
Which products is the dispenser suitable for
The pump works reliably with contents that can be drawn up through the dip tube and pushed through the head. It gives the best results with liquid to medium-viscosity products:
- liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos and conditioners of standard consistency
- body and facial milks, light emulsions and serums that flow slowly when the bottle is tilted
- micellar waters, cleansing emulsions, liquid cleansing gels
- massage and body oils, if a measured dose is preferred over free pouring
- for household use: liquid food mixtures such as syrups, oils and honey diluted to a liquid consistency
For thick creams, butters, pastes or products containing particles (exfoliating beads, herb pieces), a pump with a dip tube is not suitable. The contents will not be drawn up or will clog the head. For such products, a jar, tin or wide-mouth bottle with a different closure type is more appropriate.
With your own formulation, it is worth testing the viscosity directly with the pump before filling the entire batch. If the dispenser only 'catches' after several presses or releases uneven amounts, the product is too thick or contains air bubbles that the pump is drawing in instead of the contents.
Assembly and filling
The pump screws onto bottles with a 24/410 neck. The thread type is listed in the parameters of each bottle in the Handymade range. The dip tube is supplied at a length for taller bottles and, for a shorter bottle, should be cut with a sharp knife or scissors so that it ends just above the bottom.
Fill the bottle to its nominal volume, not to the rim of the neck. The headspace above the fill level is needed for the dip tube and pump body, which take up space when screwed in. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents will leak around the thread. After screwing in the pump, press it several times to prime the tube and head.
Before first use, we recommend rinsing the pump with warm water or disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leaving it to dry completely. Flush the dip tube by pumping clean water through it several times.
Good to know
- Contents remain in contact with air. The pump is not an airless system; a small amount of air enters the bottle with each press. Water-based products must therefore be adequately preserved. Oxidation-sensitive oils are better filled into smaller bottles that will be used up sooner.
- Essential oils and concentrated fragrance compositions. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing the pump's behaviour with the finished formulation and monitoring sealing performance over several weeks.
- The viscosity of the contents changes with temperature. Emulsions and gels are thicker in a cold bathroom than at room temperature. A product that dispenses without issue in summer may require more presses in winter.
- Reuse is possible after thorough cleaning. When changing the contents (for example, from soap to oil), this is essential; otherwise residues will mix.
When transporting filled bottles with a pump, check that the head cannot be pressed accidentally inside the package. If this happens, the contents will leak. For shipping, it is safer to include the pump separately and seal the bottle with a solid cap, or to use packaging that secures the head.
