Product description
The PushLock plastic cap is a dispensing closure for bottles with a 24/410 neck finish. It opens and closes by pressing, so the bottle does not need to be unscrewed during normal use. It is suitable for liquid to medium-viscosity products dispensed in small amounts directly into the palm: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners, body lotions, and massage or body oils.
It is made from polypropylene (PP) in a grade suitable for cosmetic products. The white colour is neutral and pairs easily with clear, coloured, and frosted bottles.
What the PushLock cap is suitable for
- Rinse-off shower products – shampoos, shower gels, and conditioners can be dispensed with one hand even with wet palms, without setting down a separate cap.
- Body lotions and lighter emulsions – liquid emulsions flow through the opening with a gentle squeeze of the bottle. Thick creams and butters are better suited to a jar.
- Oils – body, massage, and cleansing oils are dispensed in small amounts, and the bottle does not remain open between uses.
- Travel and secondary packaging – the closure stays on the bottle, cannot be misplaced, and covers the dispensing opening when closed.
How to choose the right bottle and product
The designation 24/410 refers to the neck type and thread. The cap fits bottles with the same neck designation, which is listed in each bottle's specifications. Bottles with this neck finish and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available from Handymade. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and overall packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
The key factor in choosing is the product consistency. Liquid and medium-viscosity products dispense cleanly. Very thin, watery products may flow out faster than is comfortable. Thick gels and creams are difficult to push through the opening, especially from a rigid bottle. Dispensing is more convenient from a bottle that can be squeezed by hand.
Before filling the full batch, test the cap with the finished product on a single bottle: fill it, close it, open it several times, and dispense. You will immediately see whether the product flows at a suitable rate and whether any residue is left around the opening.
Good to know
- Preparation before use – before fitting the cap for the first time, rinse it or wipe it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely, so that no moisture or contaminants enter the product.
- Filling the bottle – the bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The total brim-full volume is always greater; the headspace below the neck is a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.
- Tightening – the cap should be screwed down firmly with moderate force. Over-tightening may damage the thread or compromise the seal.
- Contact with cosmetics – the packaging material meets the regulatory requirements for use with cosmetic products; the declaration is provided in the product specifications.
For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, we recommend carrying out a compatibility test. Leave the filled and closed bottle to stand for several weeks and check the seal and the appearance of the closure.
