Product description
The plastic spray pump 18/415 is a closure that turns an ordinary bottle into a finished spray. It suits perfume waters, tonics, hydrolat mists and light alcohol-based preparations, where the customer expects a fine, evenly distributed application instead of drops. The white and shiny gold finish complements both clear and amber glass, making it ideal for smaller retail or gift packaging.
The mechanism is made of polypropylene, the collar of aluminium. The sprayer screws onto a bottle with the matching thread, the dip tube is cut to the bottle height and it is ready for use.
Key features
- Fine mist – atomises the contents into a fine mist, making it suitable for preparations applied in a thin layer to skin, hair or fabric.
- Measured dose – one press releases approximately 0.14 ml, making it easy to dose perfume or tonic and conserving the contents.
- Thread 18/415 – the standard neck for smaller bottles, so it can be combined with both glass and plastic bottles from the Handymade range with the same neck type.
- Retail-ready appearance – the shiny gold collar and white head give even a plain bottle a finished look without further decoration.
- Suitable for cosmetics – the packaging is intended for use with cosmetic products.
Suitable for products such as
Works best with thin, water-based or alcohol-based contents: perfumes and eau de toilette, facial tonics, hydrolat and floral mists, water-based hair sprays, fabric fresheners or makeup setting sprays. It can also be filled with a hand sanitiser of lower viscosity.
Not suitable for thick or purely oil-based preparations. The mechanism sprays viscous gels, emulsions and vegetable oils poorly or not at all, and the nozzle clogs. For oils, a dropper or pump is more appropriate.
Bottle selection and filling
The sprayer fits bottles with an 18/415 neck; the thread type is listed in the product parameters for each bottle. Ready-made bottle and sprayer combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend testing the seal, dosage and sprayer behaviour with the specific formulation.
When filling, it is useful to know that a bottle has a nominal volume – the volume it is designed for at normal fill levels – and a total brim-full volume. The difference between them is the headspace reserved for a closure like this: once screwed on, the dip tube and mechanism take up space in the neck, pushing the contents upward, and a bottle filled to the brim would overflow. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the neck.
Cut the dip tube so it reaches just above the bottom of the bottle and cut it at an angle. A straight-cut end can suction against the bottom when pressed down, causing the sprayer to draw air instead of contents.
Good to know
- Preparation before first use – rinse the sprayer with clean water or flush it with alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and let it dry to remove manufacturing and transport dust from the mechanism.
- Priming – a new sprayer needs several presses without dispensing before the tube and pump chamber fill. This is normal behaviour, not a defect.
- Compatibility with contents – polypropylene is generally resistant to water, ethanol and most cosmetic ingredients. With a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking after a few weeks that the mechanism still seals and sprays evenly.
- Particles and foam – preparations with undissolved particles (scrubs, turbidity from extracts) clog the nozzle. Solutions containing surfactants may foam when sprayed.
- Position during use – the sprayer draws contents through the dip tube and therefore works reliably only in an upright position. When spraying upside down or with a nearly empty bottle, it will stop dispensing.
- Reuse – after thorough rinsing with water and alcohol, it can be used again. When changing the fragrance or formula, bear in mind that the mechanism may retain traces of the original scent.
- Recycling – this is a combination of plastic and aluminium; if possible, separate the collar from the plastic part before disposal.
Before selling a finished product, always perform a leak test on its side and in the transport position. The sprayer is not designed for transporting the bottle lying down without additional securing.
